Dead of Night Dementia

Last night...I was awoken by a little one.

Standing at the side of my bed...

Just inches from my face. (Yikes! Startle city!!)

I totally had a case of "Dead of Night Dementia"...you see...he was talking to me...but, my brain couldn't make sense of what he was saying!

It was the weirdest thing ever.

Now that I'm writing this, maybe I dreamed it.

Huh...well...anyway...he says to me, "Hmpfta mmmapt lalala bilme."

Me, *blink blink* "What?"

Little A., "Hmpfta mmmapt lalala bilme."

Me, *blink blink...blink* "Huh?"

He, "
Hmpta mmmapt lalala bilme!"

Me, *blink blink...blink...blink* "Wha'?"

He, "
Hmpta mmmapt lalala bilme!!"

Me, *rubs eyes* "I'm sorry honey, what did you say?"

He, "It's scary in my room!!"

Me, *pats his head* "Oh...go back to bed hon."

He, "Okay."

And off he went.

Just like that.

Weirdest thing...ever. Still makes me scratch my head...

Maybe I was dreaming...

  1. Oh I hate that feeling--like you're trying to come out of a coma--nothing makes sense and your head feels like its submerged or something. Poor lil A . . . and funny that he just wanted you to tell him to go to bed :)

  2. Isn't it funny how our kids just blindly trust us like that? Talk about childlike faith! (Good thing there weren't REALLY monsters in his room!) :)

  6. I used to sleep walk AND talk in my sleep when I was a kid. My mom would try to have conversations with me because I was so funny and incoherent.

  11. My daughter has sleep problems. Used to, a mouse peeing on a cotton ball would wake me up. Now, a train would have a problem getting my old, fat butt up and at em. She has told me so many times about her coming in to me during the night, and my telling her to do something really strange. *Go milk the chicken!* She thinks it's funny I've lost my mind. Moms gone nuts!

  13. I hate that feeling--your heart just about jumps out of your chest. Then it usually ends up being for no good reason... "Next time if you have to go to the bathroom, honey, don't wake mom up. JUST GO TO THE BATHROOM AND GO BACK TO BED!"

  14. I get that at least once a week, and most of the time Boo is sleep walking. Now THAT is creepy!

  15. This one has me rolling at my desk--the reason is because this happens to me on a regular basis. Mine usually sneak into my bed though without me ever waking until 3:00am and I can't move.

Come here looking for the tutorial? It can be found here:  Halo Braid Tutorial!  Let me know how it goes! I had something in mind to try on Baby Girl's hair the other day...my best bud, Dr. J, did something similar to it on Belle once, and I was trying to replicate it. Instead, I got this: Isn't it pretty?! It didn't take nearly as long as it looks and isn't nearly as intricate as it looks! Vlog tutorial coming soon...(for those of you waiting, I'm sorry it's taking me so long!)

Halo Braid Tutorial!

How appropriate, "halo braid", no?! ;) Finally, I have this ready for you...I apologize for the delay! This braid looks intricate, but is really quite easy and quick to pull off...the original video (prior to the warp speed braiding...watch the video to see what I mean) was just a bit over 8 minutes long...not too shabby! So, here you go...right in time for you to try it out on your little girl for Easter!

Oh, hold it...wait just a sec (again)...actually, I got this recipe from Melissa...yes, the Melissa of this story ! And this story ...which, well...is the same story, just told two different ways! ;) So, you can thank her...I guess. Well, in any event...prepare your tastebuds to be tantalized! You'll need this: And, this: You'll also need chicken breasts or steak, but since photographing your "main ingredient" is, like, soooo passe, I've left it out. ( Ahem... ) Just keepin ' up with the times, friend. So...slice up those peppers and onions into cute little strips... And...try your best to not slice up the little fingers that are sneaking away pepper strips... (Lemme just inte
