My Life: The Musical

Driving home last night, my "newly" potty trained baby girl declared, "Poopy!!!!" And accompanied that declaration with some, well, um...grunting noises!

In the dark, on a back country road, mere minutes from home...I made a decision:

"FLOOR IT!!!"

So, I put the pedal to the the metal and I broke into song (which my family adores...ahem. Okay, I'm kidding, it elicits many groans and eye rolls...but that's not the point.).

Yup, I broke into a song...intended to distract my wee pooper.

It went something like this:

"OOoooooooh, we are almost home!
Don't go poop, oh don't go poop,
For we are almost home!

Yes, we are almost hooooommmmeeee!
Don't go poop, my little girl,
'Cuz we are almost home!

We're driving very fast,
So please don't poop your pants,
'Cuz we are almost home!

Yes, we are almost home!
We're pulling in the driveway,
And driving very fast!
Oh, we are almost home!

See, look it's the garage!
See, I told you were almost home!
Oh, I hope you didn't poop your pants,
'Cuz we are almost home!

Yes, we!
Are!
Almost!
HooooooooommmmmmMMMMEEEEEEE!"

And it worked!

In fact, I think it worked too well. 'Cuz by the time we got in, it seemed the "poopy" moment had passed.

Hmmmm...maybe next time I'll stop at two verses?

  2. totally love it. As moms sometimes we gotta do what we gotta do. I am not sure if I would have sang the song or pulled over for her to go. Such decisions we are faced with oh and so glad she made it. We are in the midst of potty learning and poops in the pants are so not fun for mom

  3. No songs about poo yet at our house. Both my husband and I are known to break into song for many other things. The other day our 3 year old broke into song about the different colors on a traffic light and what they each mean. I think it's genetic. :o)

    Any potty training tips?

Come here looking for the tutorial? It can be found here:  Halo Braid Tutorial!  Let me know how it goes! I had something in mind to try on Baby Girl's hair the other day...my best bud, Dr. J, did something similar to it on Belle once, and I was trying to replicate it. Instead, I got this: Isn't it pretty?! It didn't take nearly as long as it looks and isn't nearly as intricate as it looks! Vlog tutorial coming soon...(for those of you waiting, I'm sorry it's taking me so long!)

Halo Braid Tutorial!

How appropriate, "halo braid", no?! ;) Finally, I have this ready for you...I apologize for the delay! This braid looks intricate, but is really quite easy and quick to pull off...the original video (prior to the warp speed braiding...watch the video to see what I mean) was just a bit over 8 minutes long...not too shabby! So, here you go...right in time for you to try it out on your little girl for Easter!

You'll need this: And, this: You'll also need chicken breasts or steak, but since photographing your "main ingredient" is, like, soooo passe, I've left it out. ( Ahem... ) Just keepin ' up with the times, friend. So...slice up those peppers and onions into cute little strips... And...try your best to not slice up the little fingers that are sneaking away pepper strips... (Lemme just inte...
