Five Question Friday! 11/19/10

Wooooweeeee!! It's Friday (in case, you know...you didn't know that yet...)!! Work was slow last night, so they sent me home...only I went to the mall instead. Finished up some shopping for a certain little boy's birthday that is coming up.

While I was at the mall...I stopped into my favoritest store in the whole widest world...Aerie. Turns out, they were having a party...just for ME! And by "me" I mean, "you, and you, and you...and yes, even you, too".

I (and you) even got a gift! Lip gloss and lotion! I felt guilty for not buying anything...and I honestly stood there and racked my brain trying to figure out who on earth I could buy a gift from Aerie for.

The only person I could think of was me. And, since I'm not into the whole "gift buying for me" thing right now, I had to leave. With my lip gloss and lotion burning a hole in my conscience.

Seriously, though...have you seen these? I'm in love...

Well, enough about me...let's find out more about YOU!

Welcome to 5QF! The bestest bloghop around!!

Rules for Five Question Friday: Copy and paste the following questions to your blog post. Answer them, then watch for the linky to appear Friday morning and link up your post!

Fun stuff, I tell ya, fun stuff!!

Questions for Friday, November 19th: (Special thanks to
Colleen, Sandy, Bethany, Adena, and a question from the deck of random question cards, for their question suggestions! If you would like to be linked in a future 5QF, c'mon over to my community and offer up your best question suggestions!)

1. What Christmas song do you loathe?

2. Do you and your significant other cuddle at night or sleep on opposite sides of the bed?

3. Have you ever had surgery?

4. When do you typically have your holiday shopping done?

5. If money were not an issue (and you HAD to pick something), what would your ultimate luxury item be?

------------------------------------------

1. What Christmas song do you loathe?

Ugh. This question is so easy for me to answer!!

"Merry Christmas, Darling" by the Carpenters.

Makes me want to gouge my eyes out.

With very dull needles.

*shudder* I hate that song!

Actually, now that I think of it...I hate any and all Christmas songs sung Carpenters style. They make me want to vomit.

Wow...well, now...isn't that a joyful Christmas story?!

2. Do you and your significant other cuddle at night or sleep on opposite sides of the bed?

A few years ago, due to many small children making their way into bed with us, we got a king sized bed. We hunted and hunted...and by "we", I mean "my mom and I"...the Mr. said "I can sleep on anything, you just pick it out, I'll be fine." for the right bed.

I found just what I wanted. A nice, comfy, won't-jar-the-other-sleeper-out-of-a-deep-sleep-when-you-roll-over mattress. Big. Very big.

Many nights, we'll snuggle for a bit...then roll over to our respective sides of the bed...and by "respective sides of the bed" I mean the Mr. gets his 18 inches on the left side of the mattress and I get the rest.

He's such a good sharer. Even if he doesn't want to! ;)

3. Have you ever had surgery?

I have. Nothing major...but, yes!

First, I had my tonsils out when I was a wee little girl. I still remember the monkey on the wall at the hospital. Then, I had my wisdom teeth out when I was 20...and ended up puking my guts out and looking like a pocket gopher.

And then...

There was that little surgery on the "girls"...to fix 'em up a bit.

But that's all! ;)

4. When do you typically have your holiday shopping done?

Well...never, really. I tend to keep picking up "a little something more" until I just plum run outta time and can't pick up anything more. Little or not!

Every year, I have an idea of what I want to get. And the I keep getting.

And getting and getting and getting...then, we put it all together and I think, "Whoa!! Where did all this stuff come from?!" So, I'm really trying to reign it in this year...but, here's the thing...

I LOVE TO GIVE!!! (Don't get me wrong, I love to get, too...)

I LOVE seeing the joy and excitment on my kiddo's faces and when you get someone that "perfect" gift...it's awesome.

And, therein lies my issue. I'm always in search of the ellusive "perfect gift"...picking up a little something here and a little something there so that if I don't find that "perfect gift" at least I'll still have something to give!

Then, that something ends up being EVERYTHING!!

5. If money were not an issue (and you HAD to pick something), what would your ultimate luxury item be?

Oh, gosh...where do I begin!! You don't need to make me pick something!! I've gotta narrow it down!

Let's see...cars really aren't my thing, so we'll just forget about those.

If I could have any luxury item...I think I would choose a dream house. Decked out with all the best appliances and countertops and woodwork. But, that's not really "an item" is it?

Hmmmm...can I say monthy facials? There's this facial chain nearby that I've gone to that I would LOVE to be a monthly "member" of...Face Logic. It's dreamy. Fabulous dreaminess. But, that's not really an "item" either, is it?

How 'bout this...a "housekeeper". Someone to do some laundry, scrub my floors and tubs and sinks, dust my cobwebs, make me supper...wait. That's more like an "extra wife", isn't it? (There is an acutal business that my friend uses that goes by that very name..."An Extra Wife". I want her. The wife...not my friend. I mean, I love my friend, but she won't clean my house. Something about "having a job" and "kids" that stops her. Sheesh.)

I'm having a hard time with this! WAIT!!!!!

STOP THE PRESSES!!!!

I want, a top of the line Nikon (like the Pioneer Woman's)...heck, I'd even "settle" for a Nikon D7000. Yes...that is what I want.

Unless I can have the house.

-------------------------------------------------

Okay, friends!! I'm writing this waaaaayyyyy too late...after a super fun "Live Chat" in my community (which we plan on doing again sometime...soon!!), and I MUST go to bed! See you (very) soon!!

Oh, and for next week...how 'bout we do something Thanksgiving themed??? Suggestions, thoughts, comments??

  6. Argh! This time, I will have to rewrite my comment again. I'm a little bit OC when it comes to writing comments. Pls Excuse. :)

Yay for your luxury item! I just bought a Nikon L something, L010 I think. I can't remember, but I just did it yesterday. Ha. This will be my first time to use a Nikon brand. I agree with your camera of choice. And if I get a chance to choose one myself, I would choose another different brand than the Nikon, probably a Canon. Then an Ipad, then...hahaha, I'll keep on dreaming coz I just can't afford these things.

  7. I love you answers! I think the only surgery I would volunteer for is one that fixed my girls up too! They are in some desperate need of some fixing up LOL! I have to agree with you on the Christmas songs by the Carpenters I can't stand them either! Happy Friday! Hope you and the family have a great day!

  8. A housekeeper is totally "an item". Don't try to tell me it's not.

When I was about 12 my dad made a music video christmas card for my grandma using that particular Carpenter's song. If I could somehow get it on my computer I would share it with you and you would LOVE that song for the rest of your life. I promise. It's that cool.

  9. I love Friday's with you! You always bring a smile to my face!

Come here looking for the tutorial? It can be found here:  Halo Braid Tutorial!  Let me know how it goes! I had something in mind to try on Baby Girl's hair the other day...my best bud, Dr. J, did something similar to it on Belle once, and I was trying to replicate it. Instead, I got this: Isn't it pretty?! It didn't take nearly as long as it looks and isn't nearly as intricate as it looks! Vlog tutorial coming soon...(for those of you waiting, I'm sorry it's taking me so long!)

Halo Braid Tutorial!

How appropriate, "halo braid", no?! ;) Finally, I have this ready for you...I apologize for the delay! This braid looks intricate, but is really quite easy and quick to pull off...the original video (prior to the warp speed braiding...watch the video to see what I mean) was just a bit over 8 minutes long...not too shabby! So, here you go...right in time for you to try it out on your little girl for Easter!

Crock-Pot Fajitas

You! Yes, YOU!! You must stop whatevertheheck it is that you are doing, and make this recipe. Right now. Tonight. Well...wait. You should probably finish reading this post first...you know...so you know how to make it... But then...STOP! STOP everything, make this, and thank me later! Oh, hold it...wait just a sec (again)...actually, I got this recipe from Melissa...yes, the Melissa of this story ! And this story ...which, well...is the same story, just told two different ways! ;) So, you can thank her...I guess. Well, in any event...prepare your tastebuds to be tantalized! You'll need this: And, this: You'll also need chicken breasts or steak, but since photographing your "main ingredient" is, like, soooo passe, I've left it out. ( Ahem... ) Just keepin ' up with the times, friend. So...slice up those peppers and onions into cute little strips... And...try your best to not slice up the little fingers that are sneaking away pepper strips... (Lemme just inte...
