Five Question Friday! 11/26/10

*Big, long, contented sigh*...what a great day! Great food, fun with family, lot's of laughter, a little charades...perfect!

I'm full, I'm tired, and I'm thinking about doing a little on-line Black Friday shopping after I get this posted!

I hope you all had a fabulous Thanksgiving!!

Now...onto Five Question Friday!!

Rules for Five Question Friday: Copy and paste the following questions to your blog post, answer them, then watch for the linky to appear Friday morning and link up! (I'll make sure to get this week's up bright and early for all you Black Friday shoppers...possibly even a bit after midnight?!)

Question for Friday, November 26th: Today's Questions all come right off the top of my wee lil' brain! (PS...feel free to come to my community to offer up your best question suggestions...we're in need of some new ones!)

1. What is your favorite part of a Thanksgiving meal?

2. Are you a host or a guest for Thanksgiving this year?

3. When you think of one Thanksgiving tradition, what comes to mind?

4. You have two pieces of pie in front of you and you HAVE to eat one...do you choose pumpkin or pecan?

5. Are you a Black Friday Shopper?

---------------------------------------------------

1. What is your favorite part of a Thanksgiving meal?

Um...all of it?

I love food...so, this is kinda like asking me to pick my favorite child! I like 'em all!!

BUT...if you made me pick just one thing to eat of the Thanksgiving meal, I'd hafta say my Grandma's stuffing. I LOVE her stuffing.

My mom made a new recipe this year, and I've gotta give it to her, it was purty dang good!! However, I think I'm partial to my grandma's.

So...Gram's Stuffing. Final answer.

2. Are you a host or a guest for Thanksgiving this year?

Guest. Always.

We host Christmas here for the Mr.'s side, so Thanksgiving is my "holiday off"! We go to my parent's on Thanksgiving Day, then on Saturday, my extended relatives all go to my mom's for more fun!

It can get pretty crazy over there...it's a fun bunch we have!!

There've maybe, possibly, perhaps, you can't prove it, been a time or two in which the Mr. has woken up the next day feeling pretty dang miserable.

But, ahem, never me...'cuz I volunteer to be the sober driver/responsible adult in the morning am the smart one.

3. When you think of one Thanksgiving tradition, what comes to mind?

Football.

The men folk of our families (on the extended family Thanksgiving celebration) take on a no-holds-barred football game. Us vs. Them.

We kick their butts. And, by "we" I mean I have absolutely nothing to do with it. Oh, sure...I've done a little video taping here and there, but to be honest with you, it's usually too dang cold for me to last long out there.

I prefer to watch the carnage from inside...(and, yes...there is usually some kind of injury). And by "watch" I mean, glance out occasionally while I chat with my gram/cousin/aunt/mom/brother's girlfriend.

It's serious stuff, this football game.

4. You have two pieces of pie in front of you and you HAVE to eat one...do you choose pumpkin or pecan?

Pecan. With a big ol' blob of real whipped cream on top.

Yum. I want a piece. Right. Now.

Although, my mom makes a mean "Luscious Pumpkin" dessert that is to die for. But, straight up pumpkin pie? Meh.

You can have it.

5. Are you a Black Friday Shopper?

I have never gone. Never, ever even once have I gotten up at the butt crack of dawn to go shopping.

Once or twice I've gone later in the afternoon, and still found some pretty good steals...in fact, last year, our local WalMart still had some big screen TV's on sale through the weekend...apparently they never ran out or something!

This year, tho...I'm trying my luck on-line. I must've gotten 8,000 emails today about "Black Friday" on-line deals.

What I wanna know is: What happened to "cyber Monday"?

-----------------------------------------------

Hope y'all have a fabulous weekend!

  1. Hi!

Glad you had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday! It sounds great! (Especially the food part! LOL)

We don't celebrate Thanksgiving in the UK - unfortunately! Therefore, I won't be linking up to 5QF this week! Sorry!

    Have a wonderful weekend!

  2. I'm right with you on the pecan pie and never getting up at the crack to go shopping. I'd rather be the "not smart one" and enjoy the meal, wine and late night games with my brother and sister after the kids all pass out. :)

And as for the football... Sadly, I would be right in the mix.

  5. As far as I know they still do Cyber Monday which is when I will be trying to grab what I am looking for. Usually I would stay up until midnight and try to get it, but I have to work on Monday and well...I'll just cross my fingers and hope for the best.
Glad to hear you had a good Thanksgiving.

Come here looking for the tutorial? It can be found here:  Halo Braid Tutorial!  Let me know how it goes! I had something in mind to try on Baby Girl's hair the other day...my best bud, Dr. J, did something similar to it on Belle once, and I was trying to replicate it. Instead, I got this: Isn't it pretty?! It didn't take nearly as long as it looks and isn't nearly as intricate as it looks! Vlog tutorial coming soon...(for those of you waiting, I'm sorry it's taking me so long!)

Halo Braid Tutorial!

How appropriate, "halo braid", no?! ;) Finally, I have this ready for you...I apologize for the delay! This braid looks intricate, but is really quite easy and quick to pull off...the original video (prior to the warp speed braiding...watch the video to see what I mean) was just a bit over 8 minutes long...not too shabby! So, here you go...right in time for you to try it out on your little girl for Easter!

Crock-Pot Fajitas

You! Yes, YOU!! You must stop whatevertheheck it is that you are doing, and make this recipe. Right now. Tonight. Well...wait. You should probably finish reading this post first...you know...so you know how to make it... But then...STOP! STOP everything, make this, and thank me later! Oh, hold it...wait just a sec (again)...actually, I got this recipe from Melissa...yes, the Melissa of this story ! And this story ...which, well...is the same story, just told two different ways! ;) So, you can thank her...I guess. Well, in any event...prepare your tastebuds to be tantalized! You'll need this: And, this: You'll also need chicken breasts or steak, but since photographing your "main ingredient" is, like, soooo passe, I've left it out. ( Ahem... ) Just keepin ' up with the times, friend. So...slice up those peppers and onions into cute little strips... And...try your best to not slice up the little fingers that are sneaking away pepper strips... (Lemme just inte...
