Five Question Friday! 2/5/10

My Little Life

Hey howdy ho, my friends!!

I'm having a love/hate relationship with this Friday...love it 'cuz (obviously) it's Friday...hate it 'cuz it's my weekend to work...which means my family will be having loads of fun family time.

Without me.

(Excuse me please, while I grab a tissue...*sob*!!)

But, anywho...let's get started!

Rules for 5QF: Copy the following questions to your blog post, paste them, answer them, c'mon back and grab the MckLinky code (if you'd like), and then link up!! Easy peasy! I would also be very appreciative if you'd link back to me, Mama M.!

If you don't have a blog, feel free to jump in on the comments along the way! I'd love to hear your answers too!

Okay, let's get down to business!!

Questions for Friday, 2/5/10
: (Thanks to Pam, Christine, Liz, Tara, and Renee for their question suggestions! Wanna be linked in a future 5QF? Just c'mon over here, to my community, and offer up your best questions!)

1. What are you most afraid of?

2. Do you use a flat iron or curling iron?

3. Hands-free or phone to the ear?

4. Do you have a matching bedroom set?

5. Do you believe in the paranormal?

--------------------------------------------

1. What are you most afraid of?

Hmmm...besides yucky bugs of all sorts and spinny rides?

Death.

I am so incredibly terrified of dying and leaving my children. I can't even bring myself to get a will going (which, I know...totally is in opposition to my fear...you'd think I'd be all planned.)

I have made Mr. Wonderful pledge, promise, vow, swear under oath, give the scout's honor, pinkie swear and sign his name in blood that he will not let our children forget me, should I die!

Obsessive much?

Yes.

I think I need help.

;)

2. Do you use a flat iron or curling iron?

Well...now that I'm sportin' "Hot Mom Hair", I'm a flat iron girl...but, back in the day, when I had long hair, I was a curling iron girl...just couldn't get the job done with a flat one!

And you know what?

I think whoever invented flat irons ranks right up there with the dude(ette) that invented the epidural (have never had one, but hear they're nice...)...I couldn't live without my flat iron like some ladies can't live without their epidurals.

Amen.

And thank you.

3. Hands-free or phone to the ear?

Phone to the ear.

And, I have this weird quirk/fear. If I'm passing a police officer, I always try to act non-chalant and hide it...like he/she can't tell that I'm jabbering away on my phone!

I'm afraid they'll pull me over, send my kids to foster care and throw me in the clink for talking on my phone.

And, yes...I'm also slightly afraid of the whole "cell signal/brain tumor" theory.

But it doesn't stop me.

Sometimes...I scare myself with my weirdness.

4. Do you have a matching bedroom set?

Remember this post?

Nope. No matching furniture here.

Still living life sans headboard with a mismatched set of cheapo dressers that are old, but still in one piece...kinda. The Mr.'s is coming apart in the back. But we can't really see it.

Outta sight, outta mind baby!

And, since I blew a wad on M.A.C., looks like I'll be waiting a bit longer for that gorgeous set of heirloom Amish furniture.

But, dang!! I do love my new 'puter!!

5. Do you believe in the paranormal?

Hmmmm...interesting...yes and no.

And, I'm not sure that I can even really explain myself well, but I'll try.

I think I believe in the "idea" of ghosts.

I like "scary stuff"...I enjoy the occasional ghost story...and I get totally intrigued by stories like the Glensheen Mansion. Oooooh, gives me the shivers just a little bit!

And, the "Sixth Sense"? LOVED it! (Well...I'm a huge Bruce Willis fan...so, maybe that's why...but nonetheless...great flick!"

So...I totally didn't answer that either way...but, that's my story, and I'm stickin' to it!!

Okay..now it's YOUR turn! Can't wait to read whatcha'll hafta say!

  7. Haha! Darling, believe me I'm a flat iron queen. If my house was burning to the ground and I had time to grab one possession, (aside from the hubbs & kids....er, kids) I'd grab my flat iron. BUT, when you place something like that in a category with EPIDURALS? Sheezh. It's not even fair to the flat iron.

Ah, and it was Dr. John Bonica that invented the epidural. He is my hero, and I love him.

  11. Oh, my. We have a lot of the same answers! I intentionally didn't read any others before doing my own.

I really want my husband to remarry if something happens to me because I want my girls to be dressed nicely, eat three meals a day, have their medicine, brush their teeth and, of course, bathe! LOL!

These were a fun five questions!

  12. I have wondered about cell phone signals giving us cancer, too. Oh, well. Even if we stopped talking on them everyone else still is.

I don't have to go to work... but I do have school work to do and 2 tests on Monday... ugh... so I'll be working on that while Matt and his friend play XBOX and do science fair..... (still trying to figure out how that kid pulled that one off)

    Good questions...

  15. I completely understand the fear of dying (See my FQF). I actually spent like an hour at work the other day on one of those free make your own will websites to make sure everything was set straight....It's been sitting in my drawer ever since because I'm afraid if I have it signed, witnessed, notarized, I will immediately croak.

  16. it took me a while to link up today. it has nothing to do with a semi in front of my house loading everything I own on it. i love that you said going to the clink, that is my biggest fear foster care and going to the clink. i have several friends who do foster care and i have made them pinky promise to fight for my kids. funny since i have never been in trouble. thanks for linking up to me today. i have tons of questions if you ever need more

Come here looking for the tutorial? It can be found here:  Halo Braid Tutorial!  Let me know how it goes! I had something in mind to try on Baby Girl's hair the other day...my best bud, Dr. J, did something similar to it on Belle once, and I was trying to replicate it. Instead, I got this: Isn't it pretty?! It didn't take nearly as long as it looks and isn't nearly as intricate as it looks! Vlog tutorial coming soon...(for those of you waiting, I'm sorry it's taking me so long!)

Halo Braid Tutorial!

How appropriate, "halo braid", no?! ;) Finally, I have this ready for you...I apologize for the delay! This braid looks intricate, but is really quite easy and quick to pull off...the original video (prior to the warp speed braiding...watch the video to see what I mean) was just a bit over 8 minutes long...not too shabby! So, here you go...right in time for you to try it out on your little girl for Easter!

Crock-Pot Fajitas

You! Yes, YOU!! You must stop whatevertheheck it is that you are doing, and make this recipe. Right now. Tonight. Well...wait. You should probably finish reading this post first...you know...so you know how to make it... But then...STOP! STOP everything, make this, and thank me later! Oh, hold it...wait just a sec (again)...actually, I got this recipe from Melissa...yes, the Melissa of this story ! And this story ...which, well...is the same story, just told two different ways! ;) So, you can thank her...I guess. Well, in any event...prepare your tastebuds to be tantalized! You'll need this: And, this: You'll also need chicken breasts or steak, but since photographing your "main ingredient" is, like, soooo passe, I've left it out. ( Ahem... ) Just keepin ' up with the times, friend. So...slice up those peppers and onions into cute little strips... And...try your best to not slice up the little fingers that are sneaking away pepper strips... (Lemme just inte...
