Five Question Friday! 6/11/10

Yay! It's Friday!! And, I've got somethin' to say! (Okay...I'll stop the rhyming now.)

I have GOT to get my butt in gear...nothin' like sleeping in to make you feel like you've already started your way behind. Ugh.

Know what I just realized? Right now...as I was typing this out? That I keep expecting my spelling errors to be auto corrected. Ahem. I think I spend too much time on my iPhone.

Anyway...let's get this show on the road, shall we?!

Welcome to Five Question Friday! If you're new here, you wanna make sure you don't miss this! It is a blast! (Course, I'm a little biased, but just trust me.)

Rules for 5QF: Copy the following questions to your blog post, answer them, then c'mon back to link up! I would love ya forevah and evah if you'd link back to me, Mama M.!

If you don't have a blog, but would still like to play along, feel free to leave your answers in the comments of this post or any post along the way!

Now...onto the questions!

Questions for Friday, June 11th: (Special thanks to Kate, Jill (and Sarah, too!), Robin, Luis, and Pam for their question suggestions! Wanna be linked in a future 5QF? C'mon over to my community and offer up your best! Had some good ones come in this week...keep 'em coming!)

1. What do you think makes a good friend, or friendship?

2. What is the last thing you bought & later regretted?

3. Have you ever had a prank played on you?

4. What is your favorite theme park?

5. Have you ever seen someone else give birth?

------------------------------------

1. What do you think makes a good friend, or friendship?

My very best friends are the ones that I can completely be myself with. That I don't care about what I look like, smell like, act like in front of!

Well...okay...maybe I do care about what I smell like. 'Cuz being smelly stinks (*snort*) no matter who you're around!

What I love most about my close friendships, is their ease. There are no silly games that are played...we may go for weeks (months?) without seeing each other or talking, but when we do get together, it's like we just picked up where we left off!

I love easy friendships. (I almost said "easy friends"...but, for some reason, that doesn't quite sound right!) ;)

2. What is the last thing you bought & later regretted?

Well...so far, the thing we've regretted is our pop-up camper.

I thought if we bought it, my husband would be more inclined to not work like a silly fool during the spring and maybe we could hang out as a family camping in our camper.

I thought wrong. I'm realizing that no matter how much I hate it, his job simply requires him to work like crazy until July 4th.

When summer is half over.

So, we've used our camper once. At last year's family reunion. Outside of a great big ol' house. Hardly camping...but, whatev'.

I also regretted not buying a Toyota Sienna when we bought our second *yawn* Town and Country. I soooooo wanted that Sienna...

3. Have you ever had a prank played on you?

Yes!! It was a funny one...but yes!

I was at work...in full work mode...and when I go to work I occasionally *coughallthetimecough* park in the visitor section of the parking ramp. I have good reason.

I work until 11:30 pm. The employee parking is in the "dungeon" of the ramp and it is FAH-REAKY down there! Ain't no way I'm parking down there and letting the goblins and serial killers get me.

Uh uh!! No ma'am!

Anywho...I was in a patient room, in the middle of discharging them, when I get a call on my work phone, "Mama?" says the male voice.

Mama says, "Yes?"

Dude says, "Do you have a blue Town and Country, license plate blah blah blah?"

Mama says, hesitantly, "Um...er...yeah?" (To be honest, I had no flippin' clue about the license plate part...just the "blue Town and Country" part.)

Dude, "Well, this is security, and you are parked in visitor parking. You have 10 minutes to move your van or it will be towed."

Me, "I'm in the middle of discharging a patient, could I please get a little bit more time?"

Dude, "No. The tow truck is here right now...if you don't come immediately, we will tow it."

Me, getting a little huffy (but also, kinda shaky and nervous and scared) that this man is so uncaring about my patient care (how's THAT gonna come out on patient satisfaction scores????), "Alright. I'll be there as soon as I can."

I excuse myself from my patient, who has witnessed all of one side of this conversation, and tell her I'll be right back.

I walk out to the desk...and everybody's laughing! Turns out our male paramedic student called me, after my nursing dorks put him up to it!

I turned 175 shades of red, giggled, shook my head, and went back to my patient's room, explaining what had just happened!

She understood, and I had a good laugh about it later, after my heart rate and blood pressure had dropped into near normal levels.

4. What is your favorite theme park?

Well...the whale lover in me wants to pick Sea World...but the thrill seeker in me wants to say Islands of Adventure...and the sentimental me wants to choose The Magic Kingdom.

Yikes! What is my favorite?!!

Okay...let's look at it this way. If I were in Orlando for only one day (and, I say Orlando, 'cuz that's, like, the home of theme parks...but, I do know they exist outside of Orlando...I've just never experienced them. Unless you count ValleyFair. And I don't.)...and one day only...I would choose...

Ugh.

I had decisions...

I would choose...

Islands of Adventure! Yes...that's it. (I think.)

I loved the rides there...Jurassic Park, Dualing Dragons, Spiderman (even though I spent 99.9% of it with my eyes closed so that I wouldn't puke on the passenger beside me...stupid motion sickness.).

Oh, great. Now I wanna go to Orlando again.

5. Have you ever seen someone else give birth?

Nope. Never.

Kidding!! I have seen so many "someone else's" births, that I couldn't even tell you! And...it never ceases to amaze me! The day that I am not amazed by the birth of a baby is the day I need to find a different job!

I had, in fact, seen so many "someone else's" births, that when I had my 3rd, I made very specific instructions about having a mirror available for me to watch my OWN birth!

Sigh...I think his birth was the most magical of all of them. I think I will do his birthstory next! Nothin' like ignoring chronological order.

------------------------------------

And that's it! That's all I've got! I'm off to clean toilets and fold clothes, and pack our family up, and make some Basil Chicken Salad...

Come here looking for the tutorial? It can be found here:  Halo Braid Tutorial!  Let me know how it goes! I had something in mind to try on Baby Girl's hair the other day...my best bud, Dr. J, did something similar to it on Belle once, and I was trying to replicate it. Instead, I got this: Isn't it pretty?! It didn't take nearly as long as it looks and isn't nearly as intricate as it looks! Vlog tutorial coming soon...(for those of you waiting, I'm sorry it's taking me so long!)

Halo Braid Tutorial!

How appropriate, "halo braid", no?! ;) Finally, I have this ready for you...I apologize for the delay! This braid looks intricate, but is really quite easy and quick to pull off...the original video (prior to the warp speed braiding...watch the video to see what I mean) was just a bit over 8 minutes long...not too shabby! So, here you go...right in time for you to try it out on your little girl for Easter!

Crock-Pot Fajitas

You! Yes, YOU!! You must stop whatevertheheck it is that you are doing, and make this recipe. Right now. Tonight. Well...wait. You should probably finish reading this post first...you know...so you know how to make it... But then...STOP! STOP everything, make this, and thank me later! Oh, hold it...wait just a sec (again)...actually, I got this recipe from Melissa...yes, the Melissa of this story ! And this story ...which, well...is the same story, just told two different ways! ;) So, you can thank her...I guess. Well, in any event...prepare your tastebuds to be tantalized! You'll need this: And, this: You'll also need chicken breasts or steak, but since photographing your "main ingredient" is, like, soooo passe, I've left it out. ( Ahem... ) Just keepin ' up with the times, friend. So...slice up those peppers and onions into cute little strips... And...try your best to not slice up the little fingers that are sneaking away pepper strips... (Lemme just inte...
