Five Question Friday! 6/14/13

Story goes that my weather app is telling me there are 10 days of sunshine after today. I'm not holding my breath, but man ALIVE would that be nice! I can't tell you how sick and tired of grey, gloomy, wet skies I am.

This weekend is shaping up to be a fun one! Parades and festivals and Father's Day and, did I mention sunshine?????

Let's get started!

Welcome to Five Question Friday!! You've come to the right place if you discovered your muses are busy itching and scratching their mosquito bites.

1. What do you appreciate most about your children's Dad?

2. Do you always wear your seat belt?

3. Do you dream and do you remember them?

4. What is one thing you swore you'd never let your kids do before having them, that you have now changed your ways about?

5. If you could be granted one wish, what would it be?

------------------------------------------------------

1. What do you appreciate most about your children's Dad?
Oh, my friends...where do I begin?!

I think what appreciate MOST about my children's dad, is his faith. He has helped me to deepen my own faith and I am so grateful that he made me realize how important it is to have God in our children's lives.

But, there's also his work ethic.

His kindness.

His eyes.

And I also really appreciate his butt. :)

2. Do you always wear your seat belt?

Always. Unfailingly. It is just a movement that happens when I get in the car...I reach over and buckle up.

I am also anal retentive about my kids and their buckling habits. And, I'll make sure all passengers have their seat belts on before we leave.

Occasionally one of them will buck me, but my response? "Well, if you won't do it for yourself, do it to protect my kids...'cuz I don't want your flailing body injuring one of them as you're being thrown around the car if we get in a crash.". :)

3. Do you dream and do you remember them?

Oh boy do I dream.

Seems like I dream less now...or, maybe I just don't remember them as much anymore, but yes.

Lately, Twitter and/or blog friends show up in my dreams in little cameos. So weird, isn't it? Like just the other night I dreamt that Kate and I were talking on the phone...I can't remember what we were talking about, but we were talking on the phone nonetheless.

4. What is one thing you swore you'd never let your kids do before having them, that you have now changed your ways about?

You know...I'm not sure I can think of anything!! Maybe jumping on the bed? I don't let them do that now. I know, mean mom.

I think there are more things I DON'T let them do that I thought I would. Like constant time at friends or having friends over (I like my family around me...without ALWAYS having extras around), or sleepovers (paranoia) those are the biggest, or dances for my 5th grader (oh, heck no).

Since we don't live in town, we're not exposed to other things like walking in town (my heart seizes up with fear at that thought) or biking to friends' houses (ugh...DANGER!!!).

I'm overprotective, aren't I?

5. If you could be granted one wish, what would it be?

My Belle was watching me get the sneak peek ready and know what she said? "Mom, if I could have just one wish, I wish that Verd could come back." Bless her heart.

But it made me realize...my wish wouldn't be for material goods or oodles of money...don't get me wrong, it sure would be nice, but my wish would be for health and safety for my family.

That's it. Just for them all to be healthy and safe always.

And forever.

--------------------------------------------------------

And with that, I hope you all have a healthy and safe weekend!

  1. I had to come back to your blog to comment (and honestly...read your answers- because while I normally do that, I forgot today). Anyway, I do believe we are cut from the same cloth. AND NOW I'M CRYING IN MY ICED TEA!!! CRYING, SOBBING, HICCUPPING....OH THE AGONY! Bummer that you guys can't make it to the Mitten this year. Perhaps if we start planning 2014, we can get Kate involved?!?!?

  2. Great answers as always! You may like an article I found years ago: "Paranoid Kids Stay Alive," Mama "Overprotective" M! LOL Seriously though, the whole Amber Hagerman abduction that started the Amber Alert happened a few miles from where I live. To this day I have a miniature panic attack whenever I see an attended kids bike around the neighborhood. Enjoy the sunshine this weekend & Happy Father's Day to Mr. Wonderful.

  4. Love your response to the seatbelt question, especially when someone does not want to wear one. Cracked me up!

I have a 5QF suggestion... Will you be attending theatres to see Despicable Me 2, or will you just wait for the DVD?

Ya know, cuz' really I just wanna know your response. :)

Come here looking for the tutorial? It can be found here:  Halo Braid Tutorial!  Let me know how it goes! I had something in mind to try on Baby Girl's hair the other day...my best bud, Dr. J, did something similar to it on Belle once, and I was trying to replicate it. Instead, I got this: Isn't it pretty?! It didn't take nearly as long as it looks and isn't nearly as intricate as it looks! Vlog tutorial coming soon...(for those of you waiting, I'm sorry it's taking me so long!)

Halo Braid Tutorial!

How appropriate, "halo braid", no?! ;) Finally, I have this ready for you...I apologize for the delay! This braid looks intricate, but is really quite easy and quick to pull off...the original video (prior to the warp speed braiding...watch the video to see what I mean) was just a bit over 8 minutes long...not too shabby! So, here you go...right in time for you to try it out on your little girl for Easter!

Crock-Pot Fajitas

You! Yes, YOU!! You must stop whatevertheheck it is that you are doing, and make this recipe. Right now. Tonight. Well...wait. You should probably finish reading this post first...you know...so you know how to make it... But then...STOP! STOP everything, make this, and thank me later! Oh, hold it...wait just a sec (again)...actually, I got this recipe from Melissa...yes, the Melissa of this story ! And this story ...which, well...is the same story, just told two different ways! ;) So, you can thank her...I guess. Well, in any event...prepare your tastebuds to be tantalized! You'll need this: And, this: You'll also need chicken breasts or steak, but since photographing your "main ingredient" is, like, soooo passe, I've left it out. ( Ahem... ) Just keepin ' up with the times, friend. So...slice up those peppers and onions into cute little strips... And...try your best to not slice up the little fingers that are sneaking away pepper strips... (Lemme just inte...
