Five Question Friday! 1/21/11

H-h-h-h-h-happy F-f-f-f-f-f-friday!! It's c-c-c-c-cold here!

Like, seriously cold. Closing schools cold. Freezing your nose hairs together cold...you don't know cold until you walk outside, go to sniff your nose before boogers drip out, and discover you have now frozen your nostrils together.

Welcome to MinneSOOOOOta.

So, while the rest of the state shuts down their schools, I am guessing 10 to 1 odds that our district will have school tomorrow. Which leaves me with the decision to keep my kids home or to send them out in this crapola.

Ugh. CLOSE THE SCHOOLS!!

Okay, carrying on now...welcome to Five Question Friday! The easiest, most fun blog hop around!

Rules for Five Question Friday: Copy and paste the following questions to your blog post, answer them, then watch for the linky to appear Friday morning!

Questions for Friday, January 21st: (Special thanks to @thecoolestwife, Sharayha, Rachel, Angela, and Sandy for their question suggestions! If you would like to be linked in a future 5QF, head on over to my community to offer up your best question suggestions (We need more! Please!)! Feel free to shout 'em out on Twitter, too! 1. Where did you meet your spouse and did you instantly know it was love?

2. What is your favorite room in your house?

3. Can you wiggle your ears?

4. What is your evening ritual?

5. How many hours of sleep do you need to function?

--------------------------------------------------

1. Where did you meet your spouse and did you instantly know it was love?

Are you ready for the most romantic story of your life? Grab your popcorn and settle in...this is gonna be a good one...

We met...

Are you sure you're ready?

For sure, for sure?

Okay...

We met...

In a bar.

I KNOW! Sooooo, romantic right? WAIT! It gets better...

We met, in a bar...

On my 21st birthday!

21st Birthday = lot's of alcohol consumption. Lot's of alcohol consumption does not a pretty girl make. I'm convinced I wooed him with my smarts.

*GASP* Are you laughing?! Hmmmm...well, I guess lot's of alcohol consumption does not a smart girl make.

Anywho, he liked something about me, and I thought he was pretty dang cute. 13 years later, I still think he's pretty dang cute...so I guess it wasn't just beer goggles that night! ;)

2. What is your favorite room in your house?

My bedroom.

Because it has my bed...and I love my bed.

I love my bed so much so, that my answer to #5 should really be something like "23".

*Sigh*...can I go to bed now?

3. Can you wiggle your ears?

Er...no. Not one teeny, tiny, itty, bitty, eensy, weensy, little bit.

But, I can touch my tongue to my nose! That's gotta count for something, right?!

Right?

I wish I could wiggle my ears. Or don't I? Okay, now maybe I'm satisfied with my nose licking abilities, 'cuz I bet those ear wigglers out there can't lick their noses.

4. What is your evening ritual?

Mine or the kids?

Quick kid run down: Eat, dishes, showers for those that need them, books if we have time, prayers, tucking in, kisses, drink for one, more kisses, drink for another, more tucking in, drink for someone else, kisses and tucking, back to drink for the first...you get the picture. ;)

Me: Brush teeth, good night.

Okay, okay, I lie...I'm more of a brush teeth, check on kids, read some blogs, get a drink, write a blog post, take some ibuprofen, shut off the lights, play some Words with Friends, check Twitter, play one more WWF game, check email, play JUST ONE MORE WWF game, put down phone, hear vibration telling me another WWF game is awaiting me, play ONLY ONE MORE WWF game, close eyes, fall asleep.

The end.

5. How many hours of sleep do you need to function?

"Need" or "want"?

To function...and to function well, probably about 5. Anything less and I am a zombified version of myself, pretending to be functional, but really just on autopilot.

I would love to get 12 hours of sleep a night. Remember answer #2? My bed? Yes...I love my bed. Much.

To snuggle in for 12 hours would be divine.

But instead, I'm happy if I get more than 5 solid hours...preferably 8. (But really, really preferably 12.)

-------------------------------------------------

So...how 'bout you? Let's hear what YOU have to say!

  1. I WISH I could say I love my bedroom. I hate going to sleep . . . mainly because I rarely sleep well . . . I can even remember feeling that way in grade school :(

Thanks for sharing. I LOVE reading your blog!

  4. I love my bed too...sometimes I lay in my bed for a while even after I wake up. No TV...no book...just lay there. This week my bed has been way too cozy...it's been hard to get up! :)

  5. I'm right there with you on the "love my bed" feelings. Like Jenn, I could just camp out there in the peace and quiet and be perfectly content. Sometimes, I wrap my body pillow in my hubs' fleece blanket and put it on his side to snuggle up to when I take a nap. Okay, did that sound weird? TMI? Sorry. Have a great weekend.
BTW, I can't even imagine enough cold weather and snow to close schools in MN! Here in Texas, if there's a threat of an inch or two everyone freaks out and the kids get the day off. Usually by around noon (snow or not) the kids are running around playing in nothing but sweatshirts and if you slept in you missed the "snow" altogether. I hope you get to keep your kiddoes home where it's warm and safe!

  6. I met my Hubby in a bar too! I always feel a little awkward telling new people that. I don't know why! :S

Have a great weekend (in the snow!!)

  7. 1. Where did you meet your spouse and did you instantly know it was love?
I met my spouse at a dance. I was not looking to get into another relationship. It was quite a surprise. I was very attracted to him, but I didn't know instantly that it was love, but it didn't take long for us to fall in love with each other. It was very over whelming and scary since both of us previous marriages that were horrible and failed. It was also very wonderful :) Other than my kids he is the best thing that ever happened to me.

    2. What is your favorite room in your house?
My bedroom. My husband put a big addition on our house two summers ago and one of the rooms is our new bedroom. It's huge, it has a walk in closet and a on suite huge bathroom. I have decorated it just as I like and have a new bedroom suite. It's beautiful, and it feels like a hotel room it's so big. My little get a way from it all.

    3. Can you wiggle your ears?
No. I have never even tried until this very moment. lol.

    4. What is your evening ritual?
Don't have one. If I have to work I work. If I don't I try to spend it with the family or do some errands.

    5. How many hours of sleep do you need to function?
6-8. I'm not as young as I used to be.

    Have a great weekend!
    Jen

Your bed must be better than mine. I need to shop for a new mattress. I do love my mattress warmer in this cold weather. Doylene

  21. Oh, I love my bed too! I could sleep all day, or at least snuggle all day, if husband and kids would just me! It's so unfair. Especially when it's so cold outside -- brrr.

  22. Nope, I can't touch my nose with my tongue. I used to be able to but then I had braces and they re-aligned my jaw and so now, nope. But everyone thinks my ear wiggling is cool. :)

I remember sitting next to the radio in the mornings just waiting for the moment for the announcer to say my school was closed for the day. Those were good times ;)

Coming soon...

Come here looking for the tutorial? It can be found here:  Halo Braid Tutorial!  Let me know how it goes! I had something in mind to try on Baby Girl's hair the other day...my best bud, Dr. J, did something similar to it on Belle once, and I was trying to replicate it. Instead, I got this: Isn't it pretty?! It didn't take nearly as long as it looks and isn't nearly as intricate as it looks! Vlog tutorial coming soon...(for those of you waiting, I'm sorry it's taking me so long!)

Halo Braid Tutorial!

How appropriate, "halo braid", no?! ;) Finally, I have this ready for you...I apologize for the delay! This braid looks intricate, but is really quite easy and quick to pull off...the original video (prior to the warp speed braiding...watch the video to see what I mean) was just a bit over 8 minutes long...not too shabby! So, here you go...right in time for you to try it out on your little girl for Easter!

Crock-Pot Fajitas

You! Yes, YOU!! You must stop whatevertheheck it is that you are doing, and make this recipe. Right now. Tonight. Well...wait. You should probably finish reading this post first...you know...so you know how to make it... But then...STOP! STOP everything, make this, and thank me later! Oh, hold it...wait just a sec (again)...actually, I got this recipe from Melissa...yes, the Melissa of this story ! And this story ...which, well...is the same story, just told two different ways! ;) So, you can thank her...I guess. Well, in any event...prepare your tastebuds to be tantalized! You'll need this: And, this: You'll also need chicken breasts or steak, but since photographing your "main ingredient" is, like, soooo passe, I've left it out. ( Ahem... ) Just keepin ' up with the times, friend. So...slice up those peppers and onions into cute little strips... And...try your best to not slice up the little fingers that are sneaking away pepper strips... (Lemme just inte...
