If April showers bring May flowers, do May monsoons bring...um...beautiful Junes?
If so, we are in for one heckuva gorgeous June! Dudes...I think maybe Minnesota is having an identity crisis and thinks it's Washington State. Rain. Rain and rain and rain and then more rain.
Well...word on the street is that we needed it, so, you know, I guess...fine. I'll let it slide this time. But once school is out? It must only rain at night and the days must only be filled with glorious sunshine, zero humidity, and 80 degree days.
I'll let you know how that goes.
Anywhoodles...onto the party!

3. Did you have the something old new borrowed and blue at your wedding? What were they?
I did!!
4. What one thing are you determined to do this summer?
Take my family on a summer vacation! Sandy has offered to be my travel guide for the summer and has offered up some fun stuff to see in Michigan...and I'm trying to talk the hubs into it, so we'll see!
It did just dawn on me today that last year we ran into a vacation snafu with baseball playoffs and I recall declaring, loudly and exuberantly, "NEXT YEAR, WE SHALL VACATION IN JUNE!!!" But I'm not sure if anyone heard me, so it may have just been declared inside my head.
In any event, I REALLY want to vacation with my family somewhere this summer...it may very well be one of the last summers we will get to vacation with Pal before he...*sniffle*...leaves me...*tear*...for...*waaaaaaa*...college...*sob*.
So, Sandy...what's Michigan got in June/July? ;) (And if your answer is "only us!" that's more than enough to convince me!!)

Welcome to Five Question Friday!! You've come to the right place if you want a fun, easy post or if you've suddenly discovered your muses are pouting because they have to work 4 whole days in a row.
Rules for 5QF: Copy and paste the following questions to your blog post, answer them, then watch for the linky post to appear Friday morning and LINK UP!
Oh, and remember (pay close attention...this is the important one)...HAVE FUN!
1. Are you a napper?
2. What was your favorite subject in school? Most hated?
3. Did you have the something old new borrowed and blue at your wedding? What were they?
4. What one thing are you determined to do this summer
5. Ice cream or Popsicles?
----------------------------------------------
1. Are you a napper?
Yes. I am...kinda?
Yes. I am...kinda?
I love to sleep. Sleeping's my favorite. But, I've learned that if I nap, I don't fall asleep until the wee hours of the morning.
Also, now that I no longer have a napper in the house, it makes nap taking a bit harder. When my babes were small and of nap taking age, I would nap with them. I felt it was I my motherly duty to nap when they did.
I take these motherly duty things seriously. So, nap I did.
Now, my naps are very few and far between...but when I get one? Oh happy day!!! It's like Christmas.
2. What was your favorite subject in school? Most hated?
Well, I was definitely NOT a math girl. No way no how. You know what's sad? My 16 year old has now passed me up in math skills.
Well, I was definitely NOT a math girl. No way no how. You know what's sad? My 16 year old has now passed me up in math skills.
No, seriously...he is taking math classes that I have NEVER EVEN HEARD OF. (Well, okay, fine...I heard of them, but it's like they were mythical. Turns out they really do exisit.)
So, yeah. If he wants help with his math classes? It can't be me. I ain't got no clue what the brutha is talkin' about.
English was more my cuppa. I loved creative writing classes and even considered (briefly) an English major in college.
But, if you were to make me choose which "subject" was my favorite? I'd have to tell you I most enjoyed study hall. ;)
3. Did you have the something old new borrowed and blue at your wedding? What were they?
I did!!
It was a little lame-ish, but here's what it was:
New: My wedding dress:
Old/borrowed/blue: My mom's garter. She was a all, "Oh, WAIT...OLD?!?!" And I was all, "Fork it over, old fart." ;)
It actually worked out quite well...I was going to do my toenails blue, but it turns out that blue polish wasn't invented yet in 2001. So I didn't. I am currently, however, sporting blue toenails.
Now you know.
4. What one thing are you determined to do this summer?

5. Ice cream or Popsicles?
Ooooooooh...this is a good one.
Um...hmmmmm. What kind of ice cream are we talking about?
Coffee? Then HELLA YEAH!! Sign me up for that!
If, however, we are talking about Bomb Pops? Then fuhgettaboudit...popsicles it is!
And if there happens to be a smorgasbord of ice cream and popsicles in front of me, I will choose 10 of each, please and thank you.
Okay, fine...prolly a popsicle. BUT the coffee ice cream will always win out. The end.
-----------------------------------------------------
Enjoy your Memorial Day weekend...and STAY SAFE!!!

woo hoo made it in, literally walking out the door for the weekend and saw this. So excited. if I nap too late or for more than a couple of minutes I am up late too
ReplyDeleteOh - coffee ice cream! Don't know why I didn't think of that.
ReplyDeleteIf you come visit Sandy then I might have to introduce myself (I'll bring Australia chocolate and Tim Tams from our stash). So fun!
ReplyDeleteMichigan has a gazillion things to do in the summer. We have tons of lakes, so there is boating, fishing, swimming, etc. If you're in northern Michigan, there are the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes and so much beautiful scenery you will want to move there.
ReplyDeleteI'm from Michigan, what part are you thinking about visiting?!
ReplyDeleteI proclaimed the same things last year... sord of. I WILL GO TO THE BEACH IN 2012... but probably not. But I will go somewhere! I meant it this time! :)
ReplyDeleteI agree, napping is like Christmas. Oh, how I miss naps...
ReplyDeleteHopped over here courtesy of Life, Experience Needed's blog! Great idea, adore five question Friday!
ReplyDeleteI see I was beat to the punch but Michigan does have a ton to do during the summer-- no matter which area you are going to visit. My absolute favorite place to go is Mackinaw though-- :-D
ReplyDeleteThere's PLENTY to do in June/ July! Plus, you'll have MUCH better luck finding an available camp ground. Heck, I'll let you camp out in our back yard! Beaches, zoos, botanical gardens, amusement park, fishing, beaches, ice cream, GNO (with my pal ememby.com), beaches, beaches....SO much fun to be had!
ReplyDeleteHow can we convince the Mr?????? You'd better start "you know whating" more!!!
Were doing a family vacation before college too with my Dad and brother and his girls before they take off for college in the fall. There's a ton of great stuff from museums to climbing to the top of Sleeping Bear Dunes. Awesome, awesome state! (Birth-state of me, so just a little bias there!)
ReplyDeleteHaha! I love the Minnesota identity crisis! I currently live in WA state, and I must say -- when it's sunny, it is amazing how beautiful it is here. When it's rainy? Well, it's gray. And rainy. But on sunny days (like today!), there is absolutely no where I would rather be.
ReplyDeleteI live on the Puget Sound with a canal in view out the back door, and can see two different mountain ranges if I take a 5-minute walk from my front door.
But, oh, the rain. . .
Hope you are not heading for the same sort of 'summer' that we just had - rained almsot the whole time til Autumn (fall for you folks) with four days beling the longest break of dry weather...autumn was actually our summer as we had nice weather for almost a whole four weeks...
