Five Question Friday! 3/11/11

It's a three day WORKend for me...yup, that's right, it's my weekend to work! And to play, a little too...my big bro's getting old having a birthday, so we're celebrating at my parent's on Saturday night! Should be fun!

As is typical, I'm still HOPING that one of these days winter will end. It seems endless, right about now.

Alright...I'm writing this on Thursday night, and mine eyes are telling me it's time to go to bed, so let's get this party started!

Rules for Five Question Friday: Copy and paste the following questions to your blog, answer them, then watch for the linky to appear Friday morning! And most of all...have fun!!

Questions for Friday, March 11th: (Special thanks to @my4redheads, Sandy, @mom2xover2002, @jmberrygirl, and @mamamarchand for their question suggestions! If YOU would like to be linked in a future 5QF, c'mon over to my community and offer up your best question suggestions...and please do!! It's pretty sparse over there!! Feel free to shout 'em out to me on twitter, too...@5crookedhalos!)

1. Do you know what your REAL hair color is?

2. Do you plan ahead for summer, or fly by the seat of your pants?

3. What is your favorite meal to cook?

4. Do you get offended by not receiving thank yous?

5. How did you meet your best friend?

------------------------------

1. Do you know what your REAL hair color is?

Er...

Um...

Well, judging by the stuff that peeks out in between coloring sessions, I'd have to go with:

"Dirty dishwater, mousy, nasty, disgusting blonde."

Thank goodness for hair colorists!!! In fact, now that I say that...I want to amend any previous 5QF questions that may have asked what I can/can not live without...

Hair color.

Amen.

2. Do you plan ahead for summer, or fly by the seat of your pants?

Well...a little of both.

The first several weeks are quite scheduled...lot's of morning activities for the kiddos. Then after that?

It's all about flyin' by the seat of my pants!!

However...we're thinking of planning another family road trip this summer. So, yeah. We should probably get planning!

3. What is your favorite meal to cook?

My favorite meal to cook is also my favorite meal to eat:

However, we have a new favorite in our house...Chicken Tortilla Soup. Yum!! (And ultra easy!)

But, I love the preparation for Carrot Gravy. The browning, the deglazing, the tasting, the seasoning, the tasting, the slicing, the tasting, the simmering...you get the picture!

And now...I must make Carrot Gravy. Soon!

4. Do you get offended by not receiving thank yous?

Nope. Not at all.

In fact, it makes me feel bad to get one. Weird, I know. I just enjoy doing things for other people, and I don't want "recognition" for it.

The only time I think it would be okay for ME, is if I sent a gift in the mail...just to know they received it. But even then, a phone call would suffice!!

5. How did you meet your best friend?

Well, my "oldest" best friend I met in first grade. Probably on the playground or something. We had many adventures together...and by "adventures" I mean, "things we prolly shouldn'ta done".

My "newest" best friend I met at work. We started driving together for company on the way to work (and to save a little gas) and we ended up bonding over life and McDonald's Frappes.

And then, there's my "bestie"...we met when our college tossed us single moms together under one roof and said, "good luck"! It was one of the best things that ever happened to me! We bonded over nachos and laughter.

I am one lucky girl to have such amazing best friends! Love you girls!!!!!

-----------------------------------------------------

Hope you all have a fabulous weekend!!

I go ages between hair colorings usually with the intent of growing it out and then I give in just before I could call it grown out. I'm a pink/blonde mix right now LOL

  15. I am totally the same way about thank you notes! I'd rather just say it personally at the time and let it be done. I feel bad because I'm not good at them and some people really expect them!

Carrot Gravy? I have never tried it but you made it sound wonderful!

Come here looking for the tutorial? It can be found here:  Halo Braid Tutorial!  Let me know how it goes! I had something in mind to try on Baby Girl's hair the other day...my best bud, Dr. J, did something similar to it on Belle once, and I was trying to replicate it. Instead, I got this: Isn't it pretty?! It didn't take nearly as long as it looks and isn't nearly as intricate as it looks! Vlog tutorial coming soon...(for those of you waiting, I'm sorry it's taking me so long!)

Halo Braid Tutorial!

How appropriate, "halo braid", no?! ;) Finally, I have this ready for you...I apologize for the delay! This braid looks intricate, but is really quite easy and quick to pull off...the original video (prior to the warp speed braiding...watch the video to see what I mean) was just a bit over 8 minutes long...not too shabby! So, here you go...right in time for you to try it out on your little girl for Easter!

Crock-Pot Fajitas

You! Yes, YOU!! You must stop whatevertheheck it is that you are doing, and make this recipe. Right now. Tonight. Well...wait. You should probably finish reading this post first...you know...so you know how to make it... But then...STOP! STOP everything, make this, and thank me later! Oh, hold it...wait just a sec (again)...actually, I got this recipe from Melissa...yes, the Melissa of this story ! And this story ...which, well...is the same story, just told two different ways! ;) So, you can thank her...I guess. Well, in any event...prepare your tastebuds to be tantalized! You'll need this: And, this: You'll also need chicken breasts or steak, but since photographing your "main ingredient" is, like, soooo passe, I've left it out. ( Ahem... ) Just keepin ' up with the times, friend. So...slice up those peppers and onions into cute little strips... And...try your best to not slice up the little fingers that are sneaking away pepper strips... (Lemme just inte...
