Five Question Friday!! 10/21/11

Happy Friday! Loving this fall break we're getting...so nice having all my kiddos home (and getting to sleep in!)!

Last nights hayride? FABULOUS! So much fun, that I want to bring the Mr. and video him the entire time because he startles like a little school girl and I think it would be hilarious to see!

Okay, let's get down to business!

Welcome to Five Question Friday...THE blog hop to participate in if you like to talk about yourself (what blogger doesn't) and if your muses have run off into the sunset and eloped. Oh, yeah...and it's TONS of fun, too!

Rules for 5QF: Copy and paste the following questions to your blog post, answer them, then watch for the linky post to appear Friday morning and LINK UP! Then visit some fellow linker uppers and see what THEY have to say!

Remember, feel free to participate via Twitter if you'd like!

Questions for Friday, October 21st: (Special thanks to @eah1234, @katieb38, @nicgep1114, Sandy, and Lora [no blog link!] for their question suggestions! I would LOVE to link YOU in a future 5QF, but I need your questions to do it! C'mon over to my community and offer up your best question suggestions, or watch for my Thursday shout out on Twitter and offer them up that way! Just remember to @5crookedhalos me and use hashtag #5QF so I see it!)

1. Where do you escape to when you've had enough?

2. What shows are you watching this fall?

3. What was the longest roadtrip you've ever taken and where did you go?

4. Do you plan on taking your kids to Disney World?

5. What is something people would surprised to know about you?

------------------------------------------------------

1. Where do you escape to when you've had enough?

You know...I don't know! There really isn't anywhere for me to escape. Sometimes, I guess I'll go to WalMart for something "essential" but I usually end up taking the Pal with.

If I'm really stressed, I just like to sleep. Basically, I'm like a newborn...if you stress me out or over stimulate me, I zonk. Pure, utter, impossible to keep my eyes open exhaustion.

So, I guess that means that sleep is my escape.

2. What shows are you watching this fall?

Nada. Wait. I take that back.

Here's what we're watching (over and over and over):

"Rio" ("Imma pop this cage open like a soda can!")

"Soul Surfer" ("I don't need easy, I just need possible.")

"Despicable Me" (Too many quotes to list..."You haf got to be pullink on my leg.")

And, that's pretty much it. So, yeah...nothing on TV, since we've got zilch for cable/satellite/channels/antenna.

3. What was the longest roadtrip you've ever taken and where did you go?

Last summer (summer of '10) we went to South Dakota...and had a BLAST. Shoulda taken us somewhere around 10ish hours to get there took us about 15.

Have you ever driven in a mini van packed to the hilt with people and all their gear hauling a pop-up camper? Fun times.

Actually, it was a great time. The ride there was totally manageable...and memorable. Like when we pulled over to let a little one pee and we got honked and waved to by another minivan passing on the overpass.

Makes me smile just thinking about it!

4. Do you plan on taking your kids to Disney World?

Yes. Well, yeah, sorta.

See, when a person has a big family, there are sacrifices one has to make...one of those is that we'll never be able to fly with ALL of our brood to FL to go to Disney. My parents started a tradition of taking our kids to Disney (and I tag along) when they are 11...that means Belle gets to go in a year!

I have a brilliant idea (I haven't told the Mr. yet.) to drive to FL next summer and camp at Fort Wilderness.

We'll see if that ever happens, but then I'll be able to answer #3 differently!

5. What is something people would surprised to know about you?

Well, most people are surprised that I have 5 kids.

I think a lot of people would be surprised to know I have a bit of a fear of the dentist. Sure, I'll give birth over and over again without a lick of meds, but when it comes to a simple cleaning and exam? I pretty much check out of life.

And, subsequently, I delay my cleanings way too long. I've got one coming up on November 1st...will you hold my hand? And whisper soothing, comforting words of encouragement to me? Then come tuck me into bed afterward, 'cuz we all know how I handle stress? (See #1, above.)

Awww, you will? You're the best!

-----------------------------------------------------

I hope you all have a fabulous weekend...remember, if you can I'd LOVE for you to vote (daily, the glitch is fixed) for my SIL to win the "Heroic Mom" contest! We're in the lead, but I know how quickly that can change, so I appreciate everyone's votes!

  3. Congrats on 5 kids, bless you! My husband would love a big family too! We shall see. Ha. Anyway, I hear you on the dentist. And road trips are more fun than flying, any day!

This is my first time linking up here. Thanks for hosting! I love your blog and I am now a new follower!

  4. I love how your escape is sleep, I didn't even think about that one LOL. I am totally impressed that you had all five of your kids without drugs! I may not be afraid of going to the dentist but it not something I enjoy doing and too often I put it off because it is not how I want to spend my time. Happy Friday!

  5. Ok...seriously, I think we are long lost twins. The dentist....ugh. I just made it through my cleaning on Wednesday (hence my lack of post on Thursday....cause I was still recovering from my panic attack). And, sadness...I have 3 cavities. So, I have to go back TWICE! This saddens me greatly.

  9. Thanks for adding my post to the linky for me, Mama M! It's MUCH appreciated!! :)

Like you, I *heart* the sweet sanctuary of sleep! I also loathe and detest going to the dentist! I used to work in The Glasgow Dental Hospital, and I had to process referrals and register patients. Having seen all the horrific things that can go wrong with our mouths, my job made me even more afraid of the dentist than I was before!! Like you, I get stressed with a simple hygiene appointment, and leave it waaaaaay too long between visits!! :S

    Have a super Sunday!!....

    :)

Come here looking for the tutorial? It can be found here:  Halo Braid Tutorial!  Let me know how it goes! I had something in mind to try on Baby Girl's hair the other day...my best bud, Dr. J, did something similar to it on Belle once, and I was trying to replicate it. Instead, I got this: Isn't it pretty?! It didn't take nearly as long as it looks and isn't nearly as intricate as it looks! Vlog tutorial coming soon...(for those of you waiting, I'm sorry it's taking me so long!)

Halo Braid Tutorial!

How appropriate, "halo braid", no?! ;) Finally, I have this ready for you...I apologize for the delay! This braid looks intricate, but is really quite easy and quick to pull off...the original video (prior to the warp speed braiding...watch the video to see what I mean) was just a bit over 8 minutes long...not too shabby! So, here you go...right in time for you to try it out on your little girl for Easter!

Oh, hold it...wait just a sec (again)...actually, I got this recipe from Melissa...yes, the Melissa of this story ! And this story ...which, well...is the same story, just told two different ways! ;) So, you can thank her...I guess. Well, in any event...prepare your tastebuds to be tantalized! You'll need this: And, this: You'll also need chicken breasts or steak, but since photographing your "main ingredient" is, like, soooo passe, I've left it out. ( Ahem... ) Just keepin ' up with the times, friend. So...slice up those peppers and onions into cute little strips... And...try your best to not slice up the little fingers that are sneaking away pepper strips... (Lemme just inte
