Holy hallelujah am I excited that it's Friday!! It's a busy weekend, but it's a FAMILY weekend, so I guess I'll put up with the busy. The last two weeks of my life have been chaotic. And next week doesn't look any better. *sob*
I love life when we have no plans. No responsibilities to be anywhere or do anything or see anyone. September has been consumed by responsibilities and I am ready to veg. But I can't.
So, I'll just forge through and whine and complain about it the whole time. ;)
Anyway...
Welcome to Five Question Friday!! You've come to the right place if you want a fun, easy post or if you've suddenly discovered your muses have gone all Eeyore on you and are entirely self absorbed with their own pity parties.

3. What is the scariest thing that happened to you or scared you recently?
4. Favorite brand and flavor of ice cream.
5. Are you able to sleep well in hotels?
---------------------------------------------------------------
1. How long did it take for you to find your wedding dress? (Wedding dress pics anyone?)
Well...not long.
Hubby and I were only engaged for 3 months (no, I wasn't pregnant). When we finally got engaged, we decided, "heck, why wait?!", discovered that we could wait a whole year to have the reception hall available (November...November = deer hunting = not a good time for a hunter to get hitched) or, we could get married in February.
Reception hall AND church, both open on the same day...February 10th, three years from our very first date. Cliche, I know, but hey! It worked.
So, we dove in head first and started planning.
Probably one of the best decisions I've made in my life, since I suck at making decisions! Having only 3 months to pull of a super large wedding requires one to make fast decisions. FORCED me to make decisions quickly!
Included in that was my wedding dress. Mom, gram, maid of honor and I went to David's Bridal, spent a few hours there where I tried on everything from Cinderella poufy gowns to...well, other ones, and when I put on my dress...
I just knew.
I got teary, everyone else got teary. It was crazy.
I knew that dress was mine...fit like a glove, the only alteration needed was a simple shortening and adding a bustle, "candlelight" was the color, minimal beading on top and along the bottom hem. Love.
I'll track down a photo in the morning, since I'm writing this at 11:15pm on Thursday and the last thing I want to do right now is scan photos. Forgive me.
2. Someone in your general vicinity releases a NASTY smelling fart. Do you say anything or blow it off?
Gah. I'm always so conflicted about this. If I'm with family, I'll totally call 'em out..."WHO did that?!" *gag* *cough* *sputter* Usually followed by some giggles and a "Me!" from one of my family members.
Not me, of course, since I don't fart.
But around strangers?! Uh uh. NO way. Sometimes I worry, say, in a small group, that if I don't say something someone might think it's me, but I never want to embarrass anyone, so I usually just zip my lips, hold my breath and hope for the best!
3. What is the scariest thing that happened to you or scared you recently?
Well, the most recent scary thing was probably this summer's real life dramatization of "Scream" whence I was convinced I was about to be axed and strung up in a tree...
Other than that...I can't recall anything else!
4. Favorite brand and flavor of ice cream.
Will you all think I'm certifiably crazy if I tell you I think ice cream is...meh? Don't get me wrong, I don't mind it here and there, but it's never a treat I seek out.
Now...Doritos? Oh yeah, baby!
I would probably say that my favorite brand and flavor of ice cream is Cold Stone Creamery's coffee ice cream with caramel and pecans added.
Any coffee ice cream, period, actually. Schwann's has delicious coffee ice cream.
OH...and, weird, I know, but cotton candy ice cream? To. die. for. Seriously...if you've never tried it, you must. I know it sounds like it would be horribly sweet, but it's not! In fact, it's...well...I can't explain it. It's just delicious and one of my top picks if I buy ice cream at the store!
5. Are you able to sleep well in hotels?
Ugh. No. I don't.
To be honest, I'm a bit of a mattress/sleep snob and don't really sleep well anywhere but my own bed. With my own pillow. Even with my snoring husband beside me.
I've learned to take some Benadryl before bed when I'm sleeping away from home, bring along a little white nose, earbuds if I'm afraid there'll be noises I'm not familiar with, my own pillow, and...here's a big bit of advice, not really pertaining to sleeping, but helpful in the morning...
You know how cotton pickin' dry hotel rooms are?! Well, I will always fill the ice bucket up with ice, as full as I can get it, and put it on the nightstand. When you wake in the morning, there will be delicious, ice cold water for you to wet your parched lips.
Tap water in hotels is nasty, trust me on this little tid bit of advice.
--------------------------------------------------------
And there you go! I will try my hardest to get a wedding dress photo of me up as soon as I wake...but don't hate me if I forget! Have a wonderful weekend!

Coffee ice cream with caramel and pecans - you are my kind of girl! (Though I would switch it up for butterscotch at home).
ReplyDeleteI had not a bad night in the hotel last night but you are right, hotel water tastes bad
ReplyDeleteHi! :) What is scaring me right now... is that my sister is supposed to go to Africa at the end of the month. And all these things happening in the Middle East? Well, I looked up in the atlas how far Libya, Egypt and Yemen are from Kenya, where my sister is going.
ReplyDeleteI learned something... Africa IS the middle east?! I never realized that. Africa to me has always been just Africa. But Libya, Egypt and Yemen are on the African continent. So I am scared shitless. I don't want her to go. So far she is committed to going. Sigh.
I had a friend in high school who never farts too! (But her DOG, whew!) :)
ReplyDeleteI had a dessert at one of my favorite Italian restaurants that was vanilla gelato with espresso, coffee ice cream at its finest!
I will have to find some cotton candy ice cream, sounds delish! Have a great weekend Mama!
ReplyDeleteI really appreciate your share. I am finding it these days. How useful information! You make our life better and more beautiful. Thank you. See you again.
ReplyDeleteUmm... AGREED on the cotton candy ice cream! I used to work for TCBY and we got free ice cream while on the clock. I had to make sure to get a small cup because otherwise I would eat my weight in cotton candy ice cream!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter got lost in the Mall of America when she was 7. NOT a fun time. That's my scary story.
ReplyDeleteYou planned a super large wedding in three months? Impressive. I thought I was doing good with a smallish one in six!
ReplyDeleteAnd it's good to know I'm not the only person melting ice in a hotel. Really, I try to stay in a room with a fridge, just so I can have some cold water whenever I want it, but melted ice is the next best thing.
So glad I made it before the link closed! Never thought about the ice bucket trick!!
ReplyDeleteAwesome blog. I enjoyed reading your articles. This is truly a great read for me. I have bookmarked it and I am looking forward to reading new articles. Keep up the good work!
