CoverGirl Mascara...Don't Leave Home Without It!

I step out of the car, smooth my pants, straighten my shirt, take a cursory swipe at my hair for any fly-aways and do one last check in the mirror...yup, make-up's perfect. This gives me the boost of confidence I need to walk into that building and nail the interview.

It might sound petty, but when I know I look my best, I perform my best, and part of looking my best includes knowing when I have "hit the mark" with my make-up.

For a girl like me, a "bona fide" blond girl (not to be confused with a "bona fide BOND girl"...of which I am, clearly, not), leaving home without make-up leaves me feeling vulnerable.

A little bit "naked". Scratch that, a lot naked.

In fact, if I ever do forget to put on make-up, I walk around with this feeling of unease...this feeling that something just isn't quite right. When I finally realize what it is, usually after a passing glance (and accompanying gasp) in the mirror, I quickly grab my make-up "must have"...and that is my beloved mascara. (I even keep a spare tube in my purse and in my car. Just. In. Case.)

See, if I leave my lashes bare naked, it appears as though I have no eyelashes. As if God was on a budget and thought, "meh...we'll just skip the lashes on this one". It ain't pretty. Here, I'll even be brave enough to show you (ugh, I'm totally takin' one for the team, here, I feel so vulnerable):

In fact, I'm pretty certain that small children cry in fear when they see me without mascara. So, it goes without saying that I've done my research on my beauty product of choice. That I've trialed many (MANY) different kinds of mascara...from cheap ones to spendy ones and everything in between.

Of late, my choice has been a spendy version...the kind that offers you a free gift with purchase (I'm a sucker like that)...I've gotta admit, I've been smitten with it. When I was offered the opportunity to review CoverGirl's LashPerfection™ Mascara, I jumped at it, albeit with an attitude that nothin's gonna come close to my current fave.

When it arrived I tore into the package like I do every package that arrives at our house (I have a weird thing with opening packages.) and read the accompanying insert, which was totally wooing me with things like:

"...the lash wrap brush perfectly wraps each lash with volume." Um...yes please?

"...appearance of instantly full lashes with up to 3x more volume." *swoon*

"The magic is in the bristles of this innovative brush structure!" Stick a fork in me I'm done. You had me at "magic".

I immediately ran to the bathroom and applied a few coats to my (practically non-existent) lashes and was instantly impressed. Long. Full. Not at all clumpy. Not at all stiff or sticky.

Let me show you, again. Here is a side-by-side...me with no lashes and, voila!, me with lovely LashPerfection lashes!

And the clincher?

It lasted all day. ALL. DANG. DAY.

Dear high-priced department store brand mascara...you officially have some pretty stiff competition. Love, Me

  1. I'm a stay at home mom, so I usually only wear make up when I leave the house. Every time I leave it gives me the added confidence to tackle the task at hand. Which is usually juggling 3 kids(ages 3,4, &5) while grocery shopping. They may be acting like monkey's but at least I look good while they are hanging from shelves! After all, what is more important than feeding you're family?! Oh, loving them! :)

Come here looking for the tutorial? It can be found here:  Halo Braid Tutorial!  Let me know how it goes! I had something in mind to try on Baby Girl's hair the other day...my best bud, Dr. J, did something similar to it on Belle once, and I was trying to replicate it. Instead, I got this: Isn't it pretty?! It didn't take nearly as long as it looks and isn't nearly as intricate as it looks! Vlog tutorial coming soon...(for those of you waiting, I'm sorry it's taking me so long!)

Halo Braid Tutorial!

How appropriate, "halo braid", no?! ;) Finally, I have this ready for you...I apologize for the delay! This braid looks intricate, but is really quite easy and quick to pull off...the original video (prior to the warp speed braiding...watch the video to see what I mean) was just a bit over 8 minutes long...not too shabby! So, here you go...right in time for you to try it out on your little girl for Easter!

Crock-Pot Fajitas

You! Yes, YOU!! You must stop whatevertheheck it is that you are doing, and make this recipe. Right now. Tonight. Well...wait. You should probably finish reading this post first...you know...so you know how to make it... But then...STOP! STOP everything, make this, and thank me later! Oh, hold it...wait just a sec (again)...actually, I got this recipe from Melissa...yes, the Melissa of this story ! And this story ...which, well...is the same story, just told two different ways! ;) So, you can thank her...I guess. Well, in any event...prepare your tastebuds to be tantalized! You'll need this: And, this: You'll also need chicken breasts or steak, but since photographing your "main ingredient" is, like, soooo passe, I've left it out. ( Ahem... ) Just keepin ' up with the times, friend. So...slice up those peppers and onions into cute little strips... And...try your best to not slice up the little fingers that are sneaking away pepper strips... (Lemme just inte
