Winter Wonderland

I'll level with ya here...I'm not a real "out-doorsy" kinda gal. I like to be warm, and cozy, and warm...and inside...and did I mention, warm?

But, the other day...we were invited to a Christmas party with some old (but good great) high school buddies! It was a balmy 20+ degrees, here in sunny MinneSOOOta, so I took one for the team, and ventured outdoors.

It's so fresh out there!

My BFF, Dr. J, had shoveled...well, maybe her hubby did...b
ut, honestly...she probably did. Seriously...I don't know when she sleeps. In between seeing patients, gestating her third baby, mothering, hosting numerous get togethers, cooking up a storm, creating Christmas treats, and shopping for presents. Sheesh, some girls just have it all.

But, I digress. So, I took to the ice...(insert photo of Bambi all awkward on the ice...that's me...), and just sort of stood there.

Then, I realized, that my pregnant friend had strapped on her cross-country ski's, tied not one, but two sleds to her self, loaded said sleds with four fairly large children, and took off across the lake.

And, I'm totally not exaggerating. That paragraph above? That is the honest to goodness truth.

Anyway, after being witness to that scene, I was totally shamed into strappin' on some skis. And away I went. And I got sweaty. (And, praise the Lord, no photos exist of that scene!!)

And then I was grossed out...and my feet were hurting. So I said, "the heck with all y'all, I'm outta here"!! And turned around and hightailed it for home.

What awaited me there, was nothing short of a Winter Wonderland:

A fire, Christmas lights, Christmas music, giggly kids! And then...the snow started.

I felt like I was in a snow globe!

We played and played, and fell down and bonked heads and soothed owies. I fell in love with lake homes. We ate, we laughed, we talked, we ate some more, we had hot cider, and took home sleepy kids (well, all but one...Miss E. got to stay over night!!).

It was awesome.

Can't beat great friendships and good times, that's for sure!

Come here looking for the tutorial? It can be found here:  Halo Braid Tutorial!  Let me know how it goes! I had something in mind to try on Baby Girl's hair the other day...my best bud, Dr. J, did something similar to it on Belle once, and I was trying to replicate it. Instead, I got this: Isn't it pretty?! It didn't take nearly as long as it looks and isn't nearly as intricate as it looks! Vlog tutorial coming soon...(for those of you waiting, I'm sorry it's taking me so long!)

Halo Braid Tutorial!

How appropriate, "halo braid", no?! ;) Finally, I have this ready for you...I apologize for the delay! This braid looks intricate, but is really quite easy and quick to pull off...the original video (prior to the warp speed braiding...watch the video to see what I mean) was just a bit over 8 minutes long...not too shabby! So, here you go...right in time for you to try it out on your little girl for Easter!

Crock-Pot Fajitas

You! Yes, YOU!! You must stop whatevertheheck it is that you are doing, and make this recipe. Right now. Tonight. Well...wait. You should probably finish reading this post first...you know...so you know how to make it... But then...STOP! STOP everything, make this, and thank me later! Oh, hold it...wait just a sec (again)...actually, I got this recipe from Melissa...yes, the Melissa of this story ! And this story ...which, well...is the same story, just told two different ways! ;) So, you can thank her...I guess. Well, in any event...prepare your tastebuds to be tantalized! You'll need this: And, this: You'll also need chicken breasts or steak, but since photographing your "main ingredient" is, like, soooo passe, I've left it out. ( Ahem... ) Just keepin ' up with the times, friend. So...slice up those peppers and onions into cute little strips... And...try your best to not slice up the little fingers that are sneaking away pepper strips... (Lemme just inte...
