Five Question Friday!! 9/30/11

It's FRIIIIIIIIDAY! And, it's Homecoming in our neck of the woods...the kids are pumped for the parade (i.e. the candy), The Pal is totally school spirited out: And I'm hoping I can stay awake long enough to make it through the game! Not counting on a win. Last year was our school's first Homecoming win since, like, football was invented. Or in 30 years. Something like that. This year's season? Pretty bleak. Bleak as in "the opposite of undefeated". Oh well. Anyway, I know it's a little early to start partying, but let's get this one started! Thursday Night 5QF Sneak Peek!

Time for the Sneak Peek! Life didn't give me much time tonight (hence, the 9 pm-ish posting) to do this, between work, car swapping, and feeding a gaggle of hungry football players. So, no time for small chat! On to the sneak peek! Reminder that this post is just the sneak peek for tomorrow's link up...it's not the actual linky post! Le Ginormous Sigh.

We did it! We survived our inaugural night as religion teachers! Phew. And, we both thought it went pretty well. The Pal though? He's feeling awkward about it. The subject matter is touchy one to have your parents teach you (but really, who ELSE should teach you?!), so he's contemplating switching classes. We'd love to keep him in ours (he's fun, funny, and a good kid to have in a group setting)...but we want to respect his comfort level with this subject. So, the decision will be his. I'll be totally honest with you, I actually DID enjoy teaching this! I haven't looked ahead in our book to see what kind of territory we venture into, but I have the feeling that we're headed in a good direction. Of course, the kids might tell you something different. ;) All in all...I'll admit, that I'm pretty proud of us! Thanks to all of you for your encouragement, your prayers, your thoughts and your jokes to lighten my mood! I'll probably be calling on you aga

Ventage...

Holy man alive. I need to get on here and purge my brain. Today, has sucked. Woke up with a Baby Girl who had CLEARLY woken up on the wrong side of the bed. I'm pretty sure, if you add up cumulative bouts of crying, her crying time far outweighs her happy time today. Hambone has been an instigator. Picking, prodding, poking, annoying his sister until she cries. (See above.) Then, I went to do laundry and discovered clothes that were far more wet than they should've been and realized that our washing machine's spin cycle isn't working. This is what I looked like after that discovery: $$ ∩ All through this has been the looming realization that tonight's the night. The night that we start teaching the tender and heavy topic of "Theology of the Body" to a bunch of teenagers that my husband says "are like aliens" to him. And we're not as ready as I'd like to be. And my husband said he won't be home until 5:30. Which leaves us approximate

Your Daily Smile:

This kid, is too stinkin ' cute for his own good. Last week, the "girlfriend" subject got brought up again. He smiles ear to ear, like a typical dude talkin ' about his sweetie. Only, he says adorable Kindergarten things to accompany that smile... Things like: "So, Hambone , tell us about Claire." "Well, she's nice. And cute." *Pause* And then he adds, ever so sweetly, "And she always brings her smile." How can you not smile at that?

Our American Girl Experience!

I'm sure you'll be glad to know that I survived our American Girl Birthday Party! (My checkbook may have spontaneously combusted, but me? I'm still alive!) The girls had a blast. I am so glad I did this now, because I'm pretty sure that at 10, this is the last year my girl will be interested in having lunch with her "dolly" (PS...American Girl peeps...how 'bout we not call them "dollies"? 'Specially with the older girls...). Anyway...I was really quite unsure of what to expect. In the end, I'll totally admit that I was expecting a " Disney'd " up version of a birthday party for girls. While it wasn't quite that, it was still pretty dang good! When we arrived, the girls all picked out a chair for their (here's that dumb word again) "dolly". We got seated, and something (intuition?) tipped me off that they weren't aware we had booked a birthday celebration. (Could have something to do with the fact that I

Today...

Because my sinus cavities are so full of boogers that I can not form a coherent sentence to save my life... And because I'm on my way to the Mall of America for the Belle's American Girl party, I'm going to show you a picture...it just seems easier that way. On all of us. You're welcome. Remember this cutie? When I was editing her photos, I came across this: And it makes me smile when I capture something so fun and so natural! A little girl chasing butterflies...doesn't get any better than that!

I'm Late!

In wishing my Dad a Happy Birthday!!! I know I said my Grandpa is the Greatest Guy in the Whole World ...but really, he shares that title with my Dad. They'll hafta duke it out to see who can take the trophy home...it's the only fair way. Happy Birthday, Dad...you play a mean game of softball, and it's a dang good thing I got all my sweet softball skillz from you. I mean, can you imagine if I got them from mom? Just kidding mom! (Okay, I'm really not.) Thanks for being such a great dad and a wonderful grandpa! Hope you enjoyed your day!

Five Question Friday!! 9/23/11

I have a love/hate relationship with all these day shifts I've been working. I love being home with my family in the evening...but my body hates it. As in HATES/LOATHES/DESPISES getting up at the butt crack of dawn. I often wonder what my co-workers think of me...rolling in with eyes at half mast, half asleep. Good thing that they have good coffee there. Anyway...football game tonight. The Pal is in the throes of an abscessed tooth, he injured it in football a couple of weeks ago and it's been bothering him since, more so when he got steam rolled by that Jerk face kid in his last game. He's now going head to head with a root canal...after his round of antibiotics. Perhaps this'll teach him to call "fair catch" next time. ;) Onto the show, Mama!! Welcome to the bestest, funnestest, wonderfulest blog hop in town! (Yes, I'm biased.)
