Five Question Friday!! 3/30/12

So, so happy it's the weekend...gonna be a crazy busy one, but love having all my peeps under one roof! Spring is springing 'round these parts...trees budding, grass greening, mama's still hanging on to winter wear just. in. case. Snow in April (even May!) isn't unheard of, so you JUST KNOW that if I packed away all that winter gear, we would get a blizzard. And then I'd have THAT on my head and MinnesOOOOOtans everywhere would hate me. I'll deal with the winter gear for awhile if means I'm single handedly holding off the snow. Welcome to Five Question Friday!! You've come to the right place if you want a fun, easy post or if you've suddenly discovered your muses are completely pooped out and unwilling to offer up anything inspiring.! Shabby Apple Giveaway!! (Winner Announced!)

Update: Winner chosen via random.org: Commenter #4 (oh, how I love it when a little number is chosen...less counting that way! Lazy much, Mama?) ;)...Allison, email me and I'll get you the details for what Shabby Apple needs to get your dress out to you! Original Post: Have you heard of Shabby Apple? Or gotten a peek at their classy women's dresses ? I die. Much. They are such gorgeous dresses that when Shabby Apple approached me about doing a giveaway I jumped. Sure, I had a pang of jealousy ' cuz what I actually wanted was a dress for myself, but giving away one to one of YOU is just as much fun!! I LOOOOOOOVE that their dresses have such a vintage look to them. So, "Donna Reed- ish "...you know, the kind of dresses that ladies of '50s vacuumed in?! ;) I had a hard time deciding which one to giveaway...so I went with the "Boogie Woogie ": An elegant, yet casual- ish LBD that I think would look smashing on just about anyone! So...wanna know how

iPad Tricks

Do y'all know that I did it? That I finally had saved up enough money JUST in time for the new iPad to be released (yes, "new iPad "...not " iPad 3" as I was corrected in Best Buy whilst buying a cover for said "new iPad "...)? (Photo via apple.com) It's true. And, it is pretty sweet. Prior to it's arrival, I was on the hunt for new apps. I asked, I tweeted, I signed up for appSmitten (which, by the way is an awesome news letter full of app suggestions for Android's, iPhones , and iPads and *WARNING!!! AFFILIATE LINK FORTHCOMING!!!* if you want to subscribe, you can do so right here . I've found some mention worthy apps through there! MadLibs , Lep's World, MathBoard , to name a few...also noteworthy, appSmitten doesn't overwhelm your inbox. Just an email weekly or monthly.) and before I knew it, I had a nice little list of apps to install when my sweet baby arrived via FedEx. Since I've gotten it, I've search arou

Remember when...

Remember when just the thought of taking my babe shopping made my skin crawl ? Remember when I figured that I was destined to a shopping free life due to my wee-est one's extreme aversion to anything related to malls ? Well...(you might want to sit down for this one...) I am happy to announce that she appears to BE CURED!!! And, not only cured, but ENJOYABLE whilst shopping! The kiddos had the day off of school yesterday (why, I'm not sure, but I'll take any days off that I can get...) and we needed a First Communion suit for Dubya so off we went to Kohl's with my mom's 30% off coupon. We found his suit...and a whole bunch of other stuff. BUT I SAVED 280 BUCKS!! My husband doesn't buy it. Killjoy...always such a "realist" and looks at the bottom line...aka "How much did you spend?" Usually I evade this question with, "Look how much I saved!!!" but he's catching on. Just like he caught on to my tactic of extreme overexaggeration

Sometimes...

I wonder. Why don't I play outside with my kids more? Why don't I play their games and spend my time outside with them? Last night we went to our Goddaughter's 1st Birthday Party (Happy Birthday, N!), everyone else had left and we were (supposed to be) rounding up our kids, when I saw the girls jumping on the trampoline. So, I hauled myself up there and jumped and jumped (until my bladder proved that I was getting old and I need to go potty before I became the second guest of the day to wet her pants...) ;) and then jumped some more. On the way home one of the kids said, "Mom...why don't you play outside with us more like that?" And I didn't have a single answer. Excuses, yes. Dishes, laundry, (Hunger Games), peace and quiet, supper, yada yada yada. Fer dumb. All that over time and memories spent with my kids? I am going to try to make a good, solid effort to get outside and spend some play time with my kids from here on out. My time with them actually wan

One Year Ago.

One year ago, around midnight last night, my babe was wheeled out of surgery and her surgeon confirmed that she was, indeed, a sick little girl with a nasty old appendix inside of her. Well, actually, he had just taken out that nasty old appendix. Wow...that was a long week. Now that we're a year removed from it, it sort of feels "surreal" too. I read back through all of those posts and find it, simultaneously, hard to believe it ever really happened and feeling like it was just yesterday that it happened. I realized that I neglected to tell you a funny story about the night of her surgery . We had been settled on the Pediatric floor, I had fallen into that sort of "sleeping with one eye open" kind of sleep when I realized the nurse was in our room I woke up, kissed my Belle and discovered she was burning up. The nurse confirmed that she had just checked her temp and was getting some Tylenol to treat her fever. Belle was starting to stir, so I quietly got close

Five Question Friday!! 3/23/12

Sitting here, all 1800's style, with my foot in an Epsom salt bath ' cuz my toe has been bugging me only I can't really figure out exactly where or why my toe is bothering me so why not try an Ep som salt bath, right? Uh huh. And why do I even have Epsom salt in my house in the first place? I vaguely remember someone else in the fam soaking their foot, but I couldn't tell you who or why or when if my life depended on it. Weird. Anyway...let's quit talking about feet. I'm not really much of a foot person... Welcome to Five Question Friday!! Thursday Night 5QF Sneak Peek!!

Have you heard? That I've been consumed ? Reading is something I can't seem to do in moderation...kinda like those Red Bull Vodkas last year . It's a sickness, really. I have my mind set that I am going to finish this series by tomorrow. Not because I have to, but because I have to work this weekend and we're going to a community event tomorrow after I get home from work, then we're going to watch the movie on Saturday and then Sunday, if I get off work, my daughter has a dance competition. It's not about "having" to finish it...it's all about not having the time to read it in the next three days! GAH!! WHATEVER WILL I DO?! ;) Welcome to Five Question Friday!!
