Five Question Friday!! 8/31/12

Labor Day Weekend...the end of summer as we know it. Forgive me for a second...I need to compose myself...

Okay, I'm better now.

Anyway, any big plans? Camping? Picnics? Just another weekend for ya?

Let's get down to Five Question Friday!

Welcome to Five Question Friday!! You've come to the right place if you want a fun, easy post or if you've suddenly discovered your muses have up and run away, being it's the last weekend of summer and all.

Thursday Night 5QF Sneak Peek!

Hey friends! Seems like schools all around us (and all over the country) have started already, so to you I say, "Yay for the long Labor Day weekend!!"...but for us lucky suckers who haven't started yet I say, "Boo hoo for the last weekend of summer!".

The end of summer really stinks. Bad. Like a sweaty teenager, bad.

My kids are marginally excited to go back, however, so I guess that's good...Baby Girl is particularly pleased because I told her, after her "so sad EVERYONE ELSE gets a special day with mom" realization, I promised her Baby and Mom day when "all those grimy kids go back to school".

Kid cracks me up!

Anyway, onto the questions...I need something to distract me from the (good) stress in my life right now!

Rules for …

He's so weird.

Point a camera at my baby bro, and this is what you'll get:

Weirdo.

Talkin' Shop...Baby's Out, Now What?!

Thanks to a very lovely reader, KP, for the suggestion to do a post on what happens after baby is born. What a fabulous idea!

Okay, so you've checked in, packing, of course, only what I've previously mentioned, and have pushed your sweet little babe into the world. What happens now?!

Dr. So and So will likely have delivered your slippery baby onto your tummy...mama bellies make for great holding places for slippery little babes...and, unbeknownst to you, your babe is already being scrutinized.

Good tone?

Good color?

Crying?

Heartrate is ___?

All whilst being "cleaned". And by "cleaned" I mean, "vigorously rubbed so as to make your baby cry because we don't spank any more and we really want your baby to cry to clear out his or her lungs". Hey, this L&D thing isn't all just rocking babies. (Actually, it's very little of that.)

At some point during the vigorous rub down, your labor support person will be graciously handed a giant scissors wit…

Happy Birthday, Mama

Today is my mama's birthday.

She is one amazing mama and I couldn't have hand picked a better one for me!

The kids and I took her out for lunch today and I'm pretty sure that the business group next to us wasn't appreciative of our loud, happy, celebratory bunch! Well...except for the guy on the end who kept glancing over and smiling (I'm guessing he was a dad).

My mama is one fun loving mama. Always quick with a smart come-back and fiercely defensive of those she loves.

Happy birthday, to mine mama! We love you to the moon and back!

Sigh said the sloth.

Last evening, after a trip to Home Depot, where we quickly dropped over $400 for trim (TRIM!! Skinny little pieces of wood for the edges of our doors. Fer dumb.), we headed to Texas Roadhouse for a late supper.

While I was shoving deep fried pickles into my mouth as fast as I possibly could, I mumbled to my husband, "Can we stop at Kohl's so I can buy some new running shoes?" (I think it sounded more like this, because of my mouthful of pickles, "mmmphfKohlsmmmmhmmmpftttshoes?") to which he responded, "What about those other shoes you just got?"

Before I go any further, let me explain "just got"...they are probably 2, possibly more, years old, grimy, and dirty...not so much "just got".

So, anyway...I responded, "They're worn out."

And, my friends, what happened next was, possibly, one of the most hilarious things I've witnessed in recent events. My dear, sweet, adorable husband, began laughing.

Laughing hysterically.

Five Question Friday!! 8/24/12

It's Friday and what makes that sad is that I'm facing three evening shifts (3-11:30 pm) in a row. So hard to be away from my family on the weekends...such is the life of a nurse!

Ready to play along with 5QF? Okay, let's get started!

Welcome to Five Question Friday!! You've come to the right place if you want a fun, easy post or if you've suddenly discovered your muses have gorged themselves on steak. And potatoes. And tomato/cucumber/basil salad.
