I Have Been Consumed

I resisted.

Didn't think it was "my thing".

I was encouraged to give it a shot.

Denied that I'd ever enjoy it.

And then? I gave in.

And I've been consumed.

The Hunger Games. I've been consumed by The Hunger Games!

I can't get enough! I have to force myself to put it down. To finish supper. To do laundry. To be a mom or a wife or a friend.

It is so entirely captivating! I've even convinced my husband (who doesn't read unless he wants to "learn something") to read it...and my 16 year old wants to as well!

Gotta say...can't wait until this weekend to see the movie.

Can. Not. Wait!

  1. I read The Hunger Games a few days after returning from the hospital (last year) after having my 4th baby. I started reading and, like you, could not put it down! I read while nursing, then would put his sleepy self back in the crib and go back to the rocker and hide out in his room, reading. The rest of the kids figured that if I hadn't come out yet, I was still feeding him and left us alone. I stayed up all night to finish it, then immediately downloaded the second one to my Nook, read throughout the day and all night and downloaded the third and read all day and night. I love, love, loved that series SO much!!! Happy reading!

  2. YAY welcome to the world of The Hunger Games. It really is breath-taking. I gave it to my mum to read who usually takes about 2 months to read a book and she managed to finish it in 3 days - like a record for her.
I'm seeing the film Saturday, cannot wait. It's going to be INCREDIBLE.
Forget the laundry - finish the series. :D x

  3. I am a faithful blog reader who never comments but in this case I must. I LOVE LOVE LOVE THG! I began the first one yesterday at the gym (I can read and walk) and I couldn't put the book down! I've since finished 1 and 2 and am debating the merits of going to bed vs. staying up to start (and most likely finish) the 3rd. Either way, I'm off tomorrow and will have it done before the end of the day. So glad I gave into temptation and read them!

  4. I felt exactly the same way...resisting(even leaning toward criticism because of the violence)but I myself have read 1 and 2 this week and am about 1/2 way through 3. Really great read! I can't wait to see the movie this weekend either! :) J.

Come here looking for the tutorial? It can be found here:  Halo Braid Tutorial!  Let me know how it goes! I had something in mind to try on Baby Girl's hair the other day...my best bud, Dr. J, did something similar to it on Belle once, and I was trying to replicate it. Instead, I got this: Isn't it pretty?! It didn't take nearly as long as it looks and isn't nearly as intricate as it looks! Vlog tutorial coming soon...(for those of you waiting, I'm sorry it's taking me so long!)

Halo Braid Tutorial!

How appropriate, "halo braid", no?! ;) Finally, I have this ready for you...I apologize for the delay! This braid looks intricate, but is really quite easy and quick to pull off...the original video (prior to the warp speed braiding...watch the video to see what I mean) was just a bit over 8 minutes long...not too shabby! So, here you go...right in time for you to try it out on your little girl for Easter!

You should probably finish reading this post first...you know...so you know how to make it... But then...STOP! STOP everything, make this, and thank me later! Oh, hold it...wait just a sec (again)...actually, I got this recipe from Melissa...yes, the Melissa of this story ! And this story ...which, well...is the same story, just told two different ways! ;) So, you can thank her...I guess. Well, in any event...prepare your tastebuds to be tantalized! You'll need this: And, this: You'll also need chicken breasts or steak, but since photographing your "main ingredient" is, like, soooo passe, I've left it out. ( Ahem... ) Just keepin ' up with the times, friend. So...slice up those peppers and onions into cute little strips... And...try your best to not slice up the little fingers that are sneaking away pepper strips... (Lemme just inte...
