Yesterday was a very special day...the Mr. and I celebrated our newest Goddaughter's baptism, as well as her sister's First Communion and Birthday (Happy Birthday, K!!)!

Our sweet Goddaughter has an uncle who is "almost" a priest...he is currently a deacon (I forget...there's a word that goes before deacon...like, "intermediate" or "conversional" or something...) and he was able to do the First Communion and Baptism for his nieces!

The church we attend has a tradition of the priest (deacon) taking the newly baptised baby and walking her up and down the aisle. Well, the sweet babe sure had a lot to say during the baptism, but her uncle didn't hesitate one bit in taking an upset baby...even asking for her pacifier:
And walking her down the aisle...she quieted right down!
Why is it, when you put a group of people together in front of a group of people with cameras, that no one seems to know where to look?! See?!
It was a great day and a great celebration!

Awww, your God children are so sweet! My church only does baptisms and they wait until the child is at least 12. I don't know much about 1st communion, but it seems like a lot of children had it done this past Sunday. Is that a tradition to have it done after Easter?
ReplyDeleteLooks like a wonderful day!!
ReplyDeleteWhoop whoop! Congratulations :) What a pretty church!!
ReplyDeleteSide note: I believe "transitional" deacon is what you're looking for...
So exciting!
