Something dawned on me today. I was going to tweet it, but it was much too profound (and...er...way more than 140 characters) so I thought I'd just post it.
Prepare yourself...you're about to be blown away by my deep thoughts.
I had a revelation today.
I have realized that long car rides are a lot like labor...it doesn't take long before the memory of how horrific it was fades, and you start to consider doing it again.
Yes...this morning, I actually thought, "Huh...that really wasn't that bad!"
Excuse me now, I need to go plan our next road trip.
Yep, I am the same exact way. And then once the kids start fighting, I question why we are doing this again. But in the end, despite the fights, cramped space, etc., it is all worth it!
ReplyDeleteI don't know... I had a nightmare about childbirth the other day, and I know it was WAY worse than normal, it makes me nervous about doing it again. Atleast with car rides you have a choice. Not really any other option but to push a baby out of get knocked out and cut open when you're pregnant. LOL.
ReplyDeleteI've been wanting to take a road trip lately. But, with a 2 year old & 11 month old? I may be nuts.
ReplyDeleteI thought the EXACT same thing about half-marathons!! Except, I had a C-Section, but still the recovery is a beyotch!!
ReplyDeleteI find that a lot of life is like that. God gives us these wonderful little "forgetful" hormones which help us only remember the good stuff and laugh off the bad stuff so we're willing to try again! You're funny but very accurate. -EW
ReplyDeleteYou know what's funny? How true that is!!
ReplyDeleteHa! I am a road trip lover, so I have no idea what you're talking about!
ReplyDelete(says the girl who hasn't driven more than 4 hours in a row since the 4 day drive that was San Diego to Alaska!)
Good day!
ReplyDeleteIm new to the site. really looking forward to meeting new people, seeing what they have to say and just really chilling on some social network other than facebook. bleh. like i said, i am me, now who are you?
Keep smiling, Dennis from My Online Payday website!
You know I have a HORRIBLE memory but road trip terror doesn't fade for me. I think I hate it more than the kids do. To me a 5 hour ride is too much work, let alone our 3 day trek to Florida. But we're hoping to do it for the first time in many year, and the first with THREE kids in the beginning of 2012. I'm not sure if I picked a date that far out to save up the $$ as I claim or to work up the courage.
