May the 11th be with you.

Okay, let's get down to the nitty gritty!!

---------------------------------------------------------

1. What advice would you give a couple getting married?

Hmmmmm...that's a good question. I'm NOT a believer in the "never go to bed mad" thing, because in my years of marriage, I've discovered that sometimes sleeping on the situation is the BEST thing you can do. Cool off, get a level headed perspective of it in the morning...and then not say anything you don't mean. ;)

I guess I would tell them that forgiveness is so very important. We mess up. We make mistakes and just because your husband stays out until 4 am at a bachelor party during a snow storm (hey...have I told you this story?!) doesn't mean you shouldn't talk to him for a week.

Not that I know anyone who did that, or anything. *ahem* That was, of course, purely hypothetical.

And, I would tell them to enjoy it...and have babies early. Get started on a family right away and enjoy those babies while you are young and vibrant and full of energy and fertitlity, and then enjoy your husband in your empty nest/retirement years.

2. If you could tell your 16 year old self ONE thing, what would it be?

Gosh, you know...I'm having a hard time deciding between "don't be so dang worried about what people think of you" and "hang out with your girlfriends more".

I was always so worried about what people thought about me...my clothes, my hair, whether I'd answer correctly, whether I was cute enough or girly enough or too girly or not tom-boyish enough...GAH! It's no wonder teenagers are a bit psycho.

I think I'll go with "hang out with your girlfriends more"...I was so boy crazy in high school that I was always more interested in my current boyfriend than I was in my girlfriends...thankfully, they were patient with me and stuck by my side.

But imagine the memories I could've had if I'd just hung with them more instead of those stupid boys?!

3. What do you do to keep cool in the summer? (AC, windows, fans, swimming, etc.)

Well, we don't have AC. We usually put in a window unit in our bedroom, but mostly we operate on strategically placed fans.

I've also been known to load up the babies (back when they WERE babies) and cruise the aisles of WalMart...or, more specifically, the refrigerator aisles of Walmart. Or, if I was really desperate and, say, 84 years pregnant with baby number 4, you could, possibly, find me camped at my parent's performing a "sit-in" and chanting "HELL NO! WE WON'T GO!!!" until my husband went to purchase AND install an air conditioner in our bedroom (see above paragraph).

But this year?! BONUS!! You know that fancy new building the hub's just bought? Central AC, baby.

Guess where we'll be hangin' out this summer?! ;)

4. What did you (or your wife) crave most while pregnant?

With each one of my kids, it was something different.

With one it was "dips" (aka "sauces", "condiments", etc.). I would go to a restuarant and order the menu item that featured my favorite dip...JUST FOR THE DIP.

With my Babe, it was cookies. And they had to be homemade. No store bought junk for me...never before in my life had I baked as much as I did with my baby.

My favorites? Pumpkin cookies with butterscotch chips. Yum. But really, I wouldn't have turned down any (homemade) cookie!

Mmmmmm...great. Now I want pumpkin cookies with butterscotch chips.

5. Who is your favorite TV mom? Why?

Well...along with "no AC" we also have "no TV" (well, yes, we have A TV, just no channels to go along with with it) so I'm not up on my TV moms, but I'll give this a shot.

Okay...I'm sitting here racking my brain and the only "TV" mom (besides Marge Simpson) that I can come up with is "Good Luck Charlie" 's mom. And I don't even know her name! How awful is that?

I just remember a scene with her playing Wii tennis with her son and she was SO SERIOUS and it cracked me up!!

So, yeah...otherwise, I'm at a loss. I got nothin'. And when I read yours, I'll be all "Oh, YEAH! HER!!" over and over.

----------------------------------------------------

I hope all of you mama's have a wonderful "Mother's Day"!!

  2. Hi,

It was fun to read your responses- especially the first, which was kind of opposite of mine :-) Maybe it all just depends on the day you're asking? SO WISH I had craved cookies! Much better than watermelon in the winter!!!
    Happy Mother's Day to you!

  3. I am joining in today! Love your answers. I'm not sure how I would do without AC but I dream of simpler times, like a farm house on acres of land but I know that I would like to have TV & Internet on the farm! I actually think that raising children without TV has to be really good for them. Way to go!
    Have a wonderful Mother's Day.

Come here looking for the tutorial? It can be found here:  Halo Braid Tutorial!  Let me know how it goes! I had something in mind to try on Baby Girl's hair the other day...my best bud, Dr. J, did something similar to it on Belle once, and I was trying to replicate it. Instead, I got this: Isn't it pretty?! It didn't take nearly as long as it looks and isn't nearly as intricate as it looks! Vlog tutorial coming soon...(for those of you waiting, I'm sorry it's taking me so long!)

Halo Braid Tutorial!

( Ahem... ) Just keepin ' up with the times, friend. So...slice up those peppers and onions into cute little strips... And...try your best to not slice up the little fingers that are sneaking away pepper strips... (Lemme just inte
