In the Kitchen with Gram...Hot Diggity Dog!

When Gram and I decided to do a variety of hot dogs for this week's post, little did either of us know that we'd be cooking up a gobsmack of hot dogs on "National Hot Dog Day"! Yup, it's true. Our country has a wiener day. (Bwahahahahahaha!!! I can't help but giggle like an immature child when I hear "wiener". Sorry. It's a character flaw.) So, here's what we cooked up: 1. Mustard Crescent Dogs 2. Relish Dogs 3. Fried Onion Dogs 4. Bacon Cheese Dogs Imagine the oodles of "Dogs" you could come up with...these are just some of Gram's favorites! Most of these don't really even "need" a recipe, but I included them... just in case ! First up, the ol' Mustard Crescent Dogs. Easy. Peasy Pie. Unroll yourself some crescent rolls and squirt them with some mustard... Next up, roll up your dogs starting with the wide end of the roll: Then you bake them according to the crescent roll package di...

Beautiful Belle

"Beautiful Belle"...redundant, no? I absolutely love this photo of my eldest girl. Caught in a moment...unaware that I was there until I quietly said her name. Working on a project with her little brother down by the lake. This is what I love about photography...capturing "those" moments. Moments that would otherwise be lost forever in the blink of an eye, in the passing of a second. I played around with this photo in Lightroom a bit and I really like what I came up with...just the focus on that gorgeous face of hers...and those eyes. Those eyes that are caught some where between blue and green. And to think...her heart is even more beautiful than that breathtaking face of hers.

While I Unpack...

Unload. Un-relax. I thought I'd share some of my favorite photos from our vacation! (Forgive me...I didn't edit a ding dang one of 'em...feeling lazy.) I was missing it the moment we pulled away. Definitely suffering from some post-vacation blues over here...

Back.

Back in the world of wi-fi. With a sunburned back. Back to reality. Back to laundry. And no A/C. And no lake. And no fishing. Back to life. Mr. Wonderful thought that, maybe, by spending a week at a cabin I'd "get it out of my system". Unfortunately, it made it worse. Now I have "cabin fever" (of the summer sort, not winter) stronger than I've ever had before! I've been searching and searching lake properties. To no avail...lake prices are SKY HIGH here and there's no way we can swing a cabin...so for now, I'll just dream. Speaking of "dreams"...it's 1 am, and I need to get to sleep! Good night friends!

Five Question Friday!! 7/20/12

Hey friends!! Just wanted to remind you that 5QF is being hosted by the talented Miss Kate today! It is awesome! I do NOT want it to end. I ended up getting my "abundant sunshine" mid afternoon yesterday...I have the lobster skin to prove it. Oh, and we ran out of sunscreen...which means the kids are all somewhat on the "too pink" side, too. Bad mom, I know! Okay, let's do this 5QF thing! Thanks again, Kate, for hosting! (I'd link her, but I can't from this Blogger app. Fer dumb.) 1} What do you call them- flip flops, sandals, thongs, or slippers? Definitely flip-flops...and sometimes, flippy floppies! "Thongs" weird me out. Funny story...my FIL, a very conservative, hard working, former farmer, teases my kids when they wear them...he as...

Funny Stuff

Yesterday, I stumbled across this beaut on Pinterest... and laughed my butt off!! That is so me. Later in the day, I was telling Pal, who is a math wiz, about that ecard. I quoted it, and he was quiet, with a puzzled look and his face. Finally he said, "Huh?" "EXACTLY!!!! That is EXACTLY my reaction to word problems!!! 'Huh?'" And then he laughed like crazy! Finally, someone put to words what happens in my brain when I try to figure out math word problems.
