Five Question Friday!! 9/16/11

Well, hello from Antarctica!! Welcome to Five Question Friday! Okay, okay, I'm kidding about the whole "Antarctica" thing...but dang, it's chilly here!

Anyone have any fabulous plans for the weekend? It's Belle's birthday on Sunday, so we're having a family birthday party for her...I'll be cookin' my heiny off making
Swedish Meatballs. Yum. (PS...don't click that link. Well, okay, fine, you can...but don't blame me when you find out that those meatballs are so incredibly soul satisfying that you want to put me in your will. Feel free to put me in your will, though.)

Okay, time to get this show on the road!

1. If you had a weekly newspaper column, what would you name it?

2. Who is your mentor/inspiration?

3. What is your wake up beverage of choice?

4. Would you wear your mom's clothes?

5. When you were a kid, did you put posters on your wall? If so, what were they of?

---------------------------------------

1. If you had a weekly newspaper column, what would you name it?

It would be:

"Mama's Monday Musings"

No...not quite right.

How 'bout:

"5 Freaky Kids and Their Manic Mama"

Hmmmmm...not quite the right ring.

I know...

"Mama Knows It All"

'Cuz I do.

Just ask my husband. Or my kids.

2. Who is your mentor/inspiration?

Wow...that's a good question.

I have a lot of mentors/inspirators (er, wha?) in my life...my mom, my grandmas...but, there is one person who really inspires me to be a better mom/person/woman.

That's my friend Stacy. She and I don't get to talk as often as we'd like, but she is one amazing mama. I love the relationship she has with her kids, who are well behaved and pleasant to be around, she is strong in her faith, she is fun loving and easy to talk to, she gives of herself to others so willingly and effortlessly, she's wise, great at giving advice...the list goes on and on.

She's simply fabulous. (Love ya, Stac!)

3. What is your wake up beverage of choice?

Dude. Coffee. Hands down.

Preferably Caribou Blend Keurig with a splash (or two) of French Vanilla Coffee Creamer.

Unless it's steamy hot. Then I'll take an Iced Coffee...with a splash or two of French Vanilla Coffee Creamer.

Unless I don't have any of those. Then I'll take OJ. Straight up. No splash or two of French Vanilla Coffee Creamer...in case you were wondering.

4. Would you wear your mom's clothes?

You know...a couple of years ago I would've said an adamant NO! I mean, seriously. How many cable knit sweaters in different colors can one girl have?

However, she's gotten MUCH better. She still dresses for comfort, but she looks more put together...cute long-sleeved t-shirts (with the occasional lace trimmed cami underneath), cute shoes, nice jeans. A definite improvement.

So...with that, my answer would be...maybe.

;)

5. When you were a kid, did you put posters on your wall? If so, what were they of?

Oh mah word, did I ever.

Where do I start? Kirk Cameron, Debbi Gibson, New Kids on the Block (specifially Donnie, whom my heart belonged to).

Can you say "Tiger Beat" magazine? Or, maybe "Seventeen"? Yes, those magazines were my drug of choice back then. I needed my next hit of Donnie Wahlberg ASAP or I was going to start sweating and shaking and spontaneously combust.

Donnie...such a dream boat.

Let's play a game...who would you put on your walls NOW? You know, if it were socially acceptable?

Me? George Clooney. Bradley Cooper. Brad Pitt. Bruce Willis. Jack Bauer. No, not Keifer Sutherland...Jack Bauer. There IS a difference and no, I don't care that Jack Bauer isn't a real person.

HE IS TO ME.

Over and out! Enjoy your weekend!!

  1. Ha! I said inspirators in my post too! Since we BOTH said it, it must be a word, right?!?! I was a Jonathon girl....because he was the oldest, I thought he'd be more sophisticated. (WHAT?!?!?). I pulled out my fleece vest this morning. :(

  2. Haha, Tiger Beat!!! Ralph Macchico was my wall paper.

Coffee is my lifeline in the morning.

    Great post!!!
Here is a to great weekend.

  3. Do they even still have Tiger Beat around? That's where most of my posters came from too. Now, it would be Robert Downey Jr, Gerald Butler, Alex McLaughlin for the top 3, but there's more too!! Does that mean hubs gets to put up posters on his half of our bedroom wall?

  4. My posters would be Bradley Cooper, Ryan Reynolds, and John Krasinski. Maybe I should ask hubby what posters he would have up?

Its cool here too. We have our annual town festival this week and we're breaking out the sweatshirts! Have a great weekend!

Oooh...who would I put now? I would slather pictures of my hubby all over my walls! LOL! I think he's hunkier than most of the movie stars! (wink) but I'm quite partial to the hunky guy from Sweet HOme Alabama...what's his name? Josh something...he's a hottie!

  7. I don't think I would wear my mom's clothes now. Fifteen years ago she had the nicest things. Now she just wants to be comfortable.

  8. I, too, believe that Jack Bauer is real! I wish he would come out of hiding and save the world! :)

  9. Too funny! I am totally in love with Jack Bauer (NOT Keifer Sutherland....honestly, not a fan of his!) but Jack - now THAT'S a different story!

Come here looking for the tutorial? It can be found here:  Halo Braid Tutorial!  Let me know how it goes! I had something in mind to try on Baby Girl's hair the other day...my best bud, Dr. J, did something similar to it on Belle once, and I was trying to replicate it. Instead, I got this: Isn't it pretty?! It didn't take nearly as long as it looks and isn't nearly as intricate as it looks! Vlog tutorial coming soon...(for those of you waiting, I'm sorry it's taking me so long!)

Halo Braid Tutorial!

How appropriate, "halo braid", no?! ;) Finally, I have this ready for you...I apologize for the delay! This braid looks intricate, but is really quite easy and quick to pull off...the original video (prior to the warp speed braiding...watch the video to see what I mean) was just a bit over 8 minutes long...not too shabby! So, here you go...right in time for you to try it out on your little girl for Easter!

Oh, hold it...wait just a sec (again)...actually, I got this recipe from Melissa...yes, the Melissa of this story ! And this story ...which, well...is the same story, just told two different ways! ;) So, you can thank her...I guess. Well, in any event...prepare your tastebuds to be tantalized! You'll need this: And, this: You'll also need chicken breasts or steak, but since photographing your "main ingredient" is, like, soooo passe, I've left it out. ( Ahem... ) Just keepin ' up with the times, friend. So...slice up those peppers and onions into cute little strips... And...try your best to not slice up the little fingers that are sneaking away pepper strips... (Lemme just inte...
