"This is the never ending wi-inter! Ohwoh oh ohwoh oh ohwoh oh. The never ending wi-inter!" (Name that song...)
"This is the winter that never ends. Yes it goes on and on, my friends..." (Name that song...)
I'm sure the world is sick and tired of hearing us Midwesterners complain about our never ending winter. But dudes, this stinks. Usually by this time of the year, if we get snow, the previous snow had already melted and the current snow typically melts quickly.
This year? This year it's just snow upon snow upon more freakin' snow. Which really sucks.
Also, I'm sure you've all heard the "Remember last year, when we were mowing our yards by this point?" "Remember last year when it hit 80 degrees in March?!"...I've moved beyond wishing for last year's weather and have just starting pleading with Mother Nature for a "normal" year.
You know, highs in the 50-60s, rain, maybe an occasional snow shower.
Anyway, I'm writing this more for posterity's sake than anything else. For those "normal" Springs when the weather is acting appropriately and we MinnesOOOOOtan's are wishing for warmer weather and so we start to complain. Yes, this post is going to be for those days, to remind me how BAD it can really be.
If you hear me complain in the following years, please take me by the hand (or the ear...or the hair) and point me to this post.
Last April 5th, this is what our weather was like. Pay close attention to the clothing people are wearing and the background scenery.
And, photos I took just this morning, after yet another "Winter Storm Watch". With no warm up in sight...and with more snow on the horizon.
Snow plow at the ready...maybe we'll fend off any more snow just by being ready for it.
Same back yard as in the photos in the link above...just zoomed in so you can see our frozen over pond. Gross.
And, one other view of the yard. Look at all the ugly snow.
Please, Mother Nature, please let us see some green grass soon. Please.
