Five Question Friday!! 1/6/12

So, I just typed the date for the first time. 2012. The year the Mayans say we'll all bite the dust. In the words of my 15 year old, "I've already lived through 'world endings' so many times, I've lost count." A cynic already.

Anyway...we're not here to talk about the dang date, for Pete's sake! We're here to have a little Five Question Friday fun! I am so sorry that I got the sneak peek up so ridiculously late last night...life got in the way of blogging.

Again. ;)

It's my weekend to work, then I need to get our family of 7 situated to spend several days in 4-5 various places as well as arranging someone to come care for our dogs. Woe is the life of a mom of many kids trying to take a vacation. I know, you feel sorry for me, right?

Let's get this show on the road!!

1. What is the weather like where you are and do you like it?

2. When you're sick what do you seek comfort from?

3. What do you need to do before the end of the month?

4. Have you ever served on a jury?

5. If you could be any animal, what would you be and why?

------------------------------------------------------

1. What is the weather like where you are and do you like it?

Well, on any normal year the temperature would have been hovering at sub-arctic temps for weeks on end without any end in sight and we would be burried under feet of snow, with oodles more on the forecast.

This year though? Other than our greenish brown Christmas (just doesn't have the same ring as "White Christmas" does it?) I am LOVING this weather.

Today, the temp reached 50. And that is a real and true 50...not a 50 with a cute little (-) sign in front of it. And the little bit of snow we got last weekend? Almost gone. Our dentist told me he was going golfing next week...and I believed him! (He's not...but WHY NOT!?)

I told the hubs that maybe those gigantic earthquakes last year knocked the Earth off kilter enough to provide Minnesota with a more mild climate. He laughed at me.

Spoil sport...he could've at least pretended he agreed.

2. When you're sick what do you seek comfort from?

My bed.

Plain and simple, if I'm really feeling down and out, I just want to sleep. I'm pretty sure I've mentioned it here before, but my method of dealing with stress is to sleep. It's like my body just wants to shut down.

A little stressor here? Find me yawning and dreaming of a nap. A big stressor there? Fugghedaboudit I'm done for. Give me my bed and let me sleep it away.

Healthy, no? ;)

3. What do you need to do before the end of the month?

Well, we found out some very exciting news last week! When the Mr. was in college, he went on an exchange program to Australia. (Oh how I wish I would've known him when he came back. Handsome AND an Aussie accent? *swoon*)

He talked often about and showed the kids oodles of photos of his host family, but time and distance created a lack of communication. Then, last week, his office manager received an email from his family!

They are coming to MinneSOOOOOta (Fargo, actually...funny, huh?) and want to get together! They found him via their company website and now the corresponding has begun!

So, that thing we need to do before the end of the month? Meet up and spend some time with them!

Shaping up to be the very next weekend after we return from Mexico. Gonna be busy 'round here.

4. Have you ever served on a jury?

Dear Kate...if I get summoned for jury duty after this answer, I will haunt you in your dreams.

No. I haven't. I have never been selected for or gotten my summons for jury duty. Part of me thinks it would be fun and the other, the bigger, the much MUCH bigger part of me thinks it would be a royal pain in the neck.

I've already thought up several "mistruths" that I could use to get me "deselected". Depends on the case, of course. ;)

5. If you could be any animal, what would you be and why?

I died when I found out my cousin had asked this question of an interviewee. He was totally just toying with them (mean!! But so, so funny...) and if I remember the story right, one guy went on about the animal he'd like to be (and I can't remember of hand, but it was something weird...like a canary) and the other guy called his bluff!

Anyway...I would most definitely be some sort of marine mammal. Like, a humpback whale. (No fat jokes, now...) They are the most graceful, intriguing, amazing animals. If I didn't get so nauseated, I could watch them for days in a little dinghy.

Debating on whether or not we'll do a little whale watching while we're in Mexico...I'd love to, I'm just not sure my motion sickness would love to. *barf*

------------------------------------------------

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! I have a super fun giveaway that your kiddos will enjoy (and that will take YOU back in time!) going on! Come check it out!

Come here looking for the tutorial? It can be found here:  Halo Braid Tutorial!  Let me know how it goes! I had something in mind to try on Baby Girl's hair the other day...my best bud, Dr. J, did something similar to it on Belle once, and I was trying to replicate it. Instead, I got this: Isn't it pretty?! It didn't take nearly as long as it looks and isn't nearly as intricate as it looks! Vlog tutorial coming soon...(for those of you waiting, I'm sorry it's taking me so long!)

Halo Braid Tutorial!

How appropriate, "halo braid", no?! ;) Finally, I have this ready for you...I apologize for the delay! This braid looks intricate, but is really quite easy and quick to pull off...the original video (prior to the warp speed braiding...watch the video to see what I mean) was just a bit over 8 minutes long...not too shabby! So, here you go...right in time for you to try it out on your little girl for Easter!

Oh, hold it...wait just a sec (again)...actually, I got this recipe from Melissa...yes, the Melissa of this story ! And this story ...which, well...is the same story, just told two different ways! ;) So, you can thank her...I guess. Well, in any event...prepare your tastebuds to be tantalized! You'll need this: And, this: You'll also need chicken breasts or steak, but since photographing your "main ingredient" is, like, soooo passe, I've left it out. ( Ahem... ) Just keepin ' up with the times, friend. So...slice up those peppers and onions into cute little strips... And...try your best to not slice up the little fingers that are sneaking away pepper strips... (Lemme just inte
