Oh, what a couple of days it's been! Our washing machine broke. B-R-O-K-E, broke. Like, metal parts fell apart. Unsalvagable. Broken. So, every waking minute (and prolly some sleeping ones, too) has been consumed with washing machine research. Front load/top load/GE/Whirlpool/Samsung/LG...good golly. It's ridiculous. Yesterday, Baby Girl and I were sitting in the living room, hanging out when we heard a BANG against the window and saw a bird fall to the deck. We went to the window, where we saw the bird laying there, moving it's beak, and I said, "Sometimes the birds just need some time to get back up, then they'll fly away. They don't always die.". She and I watched while the beak moving became less and less...until it was nothing. I began to formulate lots of "well honey, everything dies" comments and imagined the bird funeral we'd hold later and waited for the horror and the tears and the sadness...turns out, I shouldn't have worried. Baby Girl took one last look, declared, "Yup. He's dead." and walked away. Well then. Okay. Carry on.

Guys? Three and a half days. That's it...3 1/2 days of school left and then it's "104 days of summer vacation, and school comes around just to end it!" (Name that ditty .) I'm not sure who looks forward to summer vacation more, me or my kids. Last year held a lot of promise, and then approximately 3.2 hours into summer vacation I was sick and tired of the bickering and fighting and declarations of "I'M BORED!" and I packed up my hot, sweaty kids and my grumpy, hot self and we hauled our butts down to Sam's Club and bought a trampoline. "HA!" I declared, "That'll show 'em." It kinda worked. But this summer vacation? I'm determined to not let there be ANY bickering and fighting...at the first utterance of "I'M BORED" I will provide them with a list of chores that need to be completed...*insert evil motherly laugh here* mwuahahahahahaha!!! Hauled my butt in to the chiropractor today, after being beaten down by a sore neck/shoulder...I waved my white flag and decided that I needed a little help. My Biofreeze/heat pack combo just wasn't cutting it anymore! Boo. Anyway, the chiro clinic I go to believes in a "light manipulation" approach and uses more stretching and massage which I LOVE. I kind of wanted to stay there all day. Anyway, gotta work this evening, so wanted to get the sneak peek up before I head out! Here we go... Welcome to Five Question Friday!! Friends, Danish Junket makes the world go 'round. And it sure makes this dessert incredibly delicious! This one is actually my great-aunt Jean's recipe, but Gram made a big (read: incredible!!) change to it...the original recipe called for a chocolate pudding layer, which Gram substituted with Danish Junket and raspberries.  Yum diggity. What is "Danish Junket" you ask? Well, to my non-culinary trained eye, it appears as though it is some sort of raspberry flavored gelatin. I'm not sure what makes it Danish. Or junket (isn't that a bird?), but whatever it is, I'll take it...'cuz it is so yummy! Okay, let's start with the crust. Butter, flour and chopped pecans: Spread into a greased 9x13 pan and bake (it's not easy to spread, Gram says using your hands works best!): As the crust bakes, cook your 3rd layer, which is the Danish Junket, cooked according to the package directions: While the crust is cooling

The other night, my baby girl was supposed to be laying down in bed...and then I walked in, and found this: I'm not sure what it is, but I'm in love with these photos! Concentrating so hard on the game she was playing...her face light by the light of the computer screen...I just love it! Mostly, I just love her.
