A few days before Christmas, as I was held tight in the clutches of sleep deprivation, last minute Christmas preparations, and work schedules, my Gram said, "I'll bet you can't wait until Christmas is over!" and I was all, "NOOOOOO!!! I don't want it to be over!". :)
My dad made a comment about "How much the kids...well, and Mama...enjoy Christmas!"...so true. I love Christmas. Everything about it...the Reason, the giving, (the receiving...*gasp*! did I say that out loud?!), the family time, the celebrating, the generosity of people everywhere. It warms my heart and puts a smile on my face.
I do admit, I could go without the lack of sleep (I blame the bathroom...video tour coming soon!!), and the stress of making sure everyone has just the right gift...except for my mom, who kind of got the shaft from us this year...she was the one person I wasn't quite done with, so she got a bottle of Crown Royal from my kids. Classy class. It's how we roll around here.
But everything else? I love it. All of it.
So here I sit, while the rest of the world fervently rids their homes of any and all trace of Christmas, I just sit. And enjoy. Listening to Christmas music, taking in the smell of evergreen, and gazing at our decorations.
Yup, I finally get to enjoy it. :)

That's great that you finally have time to relax and enjoy Christmas! I love that your kids got your mom a bottle of Crown!!
ReplyDeleteThe best Christmas present I got this year was to have all of my children and their families home for Christmas. It is a once in a lifetime and will probably never happen again. I would prefer that it never end either but already they are going their spearate ways.
ReplyDeleteAwesome way to have things! The stress and sleep deprivation is part of the rush of Christmas and now really is the enjoy it; just relax and let it wash over you with every meaning the season has for you. Before I was married I used to put The Baby in the manger at midnight and have my alone-time for meditation and reflection. Now, that time is during the day on Christmas when hubby is at work. The years he doesn't work on Christmas, that time is a day or two later, so I totally get savoring the day after the fact.
ReplyDeleteAnd don't ever feel bad admitting that you like receiving gifts too! I've said a few times, and I truly believe it that you have to have the balance; receiving makes you feel loved and giving makes you feel worth loving, they work together.
Merry Christmas, Mama M!
Moving toward Christmas, I just want it to be over...all the prep and work that goes into it makes me just want it over with. Then it arrives and I never want it to end. :)
