Progress...Life without Nukkie.

Just in case you're new here...I want to make it clear that I have not taken some sort of vow of celibacy. Yeah, not THAT kind of nukkie (nookie). After reading Melissa's comment on one of the Nukkie Fairy posts (BTW...congrats, Melissa!!! Oh, and I linked the post that has her hysterical comment), and after I composed myself from fits of laughter and changed my panties (you know, my bladder just isn't what it used to be ), I realized I should make sure to clarify... Nukkie = pet name for Nuk. Nuk = brand name of pacifier. Brand name that our babe preferred. Brand name that our babe scrounged up (all hairy and dusty) from behind one of the couches this weekend and was all cheeky grins until her mean old daddy plucked it right out of her grubby little hands and stashed it in his pocket, where it stayed until her sinister and evil mother threw it in the garbage. Child abuse, I know. But anyway...an update on the Nukkie Saga . Things are better. The first night was awful. Th...

Here we go again...

I'm afraid to go to sleep. Not because I'm skeered of the dark, or anything, but because I'm fearing a repeat of last night. Of Round Two . Of when my sweet babe went all "Exorcist" on me and ran crying down the hall, "NUUUUUKKKKKKKIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEE!!!!" She bolted straight for the kitchen, where she climbed up on a stool, and reached into the bucket that we put her Nuks in before bed...and when she discovered that there were no Nuks? The look on her face and the blood curdling, "NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!" that came out of her mouth were straight from a horror flick. And, slightly funny, too. (To me. Not to her. Not yet, anyway.) The evening prior to leaving the Nuks for the Nukkie Fairy, The Pal and I were perusing Walmart in search of the perfect gift for the Nukkie Fairy to leave in exchange for the Nuks. We were discussing taking away the Nuk, when the Pal said, with a visible shudder and his fingers forming a cross in front of him, "I would...

Three Rounds with Baby Girl

That damn Nukkie Fairy . Whose idea was this, anyway? I'm pretty sure, if Baby Girl had the words, she'd be shaking her fist at the Nukkie Fairy and calling her something along the lines of "a dirty, rotten, good fer nuthin ', evil, bi***". I kinda want to call her that myself. Round One: At Bedtime. Very loud. Many tears. Ended fairly quickly. Round Two: One am. Very loud. Even more tears, some kicking of feet, and lot's of " NUKKIE !!!!! NUKKIE !!! NUKKIE !!!!!" Finally settled after opening her gifts from the dirty, rotten, good fer nuthin ', evil, bi...I mean, the Nukkie Fairy . Round Three: Upon waking this morning. See Round Two and Three to get the idea of what happened. You wanna know something? It's not so peaceful to wake to an angry three year old screaming for her Nukkie . * Great big, gigantic , sigh * I'm tired. -.-

Nukkie Fairy, don't let me down.

Yes...she came. And she left some loot in her path for the big girl to discover in the morning... There were some tears (okay, okay, many tears, lot's and lot's of tears, and some very loud, "NUKKKKKIIIIIIIEEEEEE!!!!!"s as well...) after we had placed the Nuks in the bucket and left them out for the Nukkie Fairy to come collect. We soldiered through. Then, help came in the form of a Toy Story pillowcase. (Don't ask. I have no idea...) And, thank goodness for Gymboree and their T-shirt-like material blankets, that I happened to find laying around the house! (Yes, I realize I just replaced one comfort item for another...but at least a blanket is socially acceptable at 5 .) She fell asleep on daddy tonight. Sans Nuk. Let's see how the night unfolds...stay tuned! (Oh, and PS...MOST of you were right !)
