Showing posts with the label treehouse chronicles

Okay, so yeah. I lied...

I'll admit it. But...BUT it wasn't intentional. Sigh. On Sunday, I promised you that "tomorrow" I'd show you photos of the treehouse . Only, today is Wednesday, not Monday, which means that it's not "tomorrow" anymore...unless you we were talking about today, yesterday, in which case, today would be tomorrow...yesterday. Er... wha '? I just confused myself. Okkkkaaaayyyy . So. The TreeHouse Chronicles! I counted, and if my calculations are correct (33 weeks between now and the last THC post, plus 3 days) we're on Day 399 of the TreeHouse Chronicles! When Saturday rolled around, I kindly suggested to the Mr. that maybe he should work on the TreeHouse ... nevermind the leaky kitchen drain, the clogged tub, the unfinished trim work, or the faulty phones...it was the TreeHouse that had me nagging him. Go figure. This, is what was accomplished: Those who play in the loft of the treehouse , no longer risk bodily harm from a fall off the end of ...

TreeHouse Chronicles...and a Date!

OH MY HEAVENS!! STOP THE PRESSES!! It's the return of the TreeHouse Chronicles...only I can't remember what day we're on!! Something like, maybe, 1,208? I dunno. I think I lost count at Day 168 , although that's not officially a THC post...the last THC post was Day 140 ...and that was in December, and no actual work was completed that day. Good Lord. I can't count that far back. But...I think we've reached the year mark! I'll give you a sneak peek of what was worked on... More tomorrow...I'm so proud of my hardworkin ' handsome handyman! It was a good weekend...I went "crafting" at a local craft fair, nabbed some adorable beanie hats for my girls: And even snuck in a photoshoot for one of my best buds babes: They're adorable! But, wow. I need some major practice shooting babies. As in, "plural" baby...two babes at the same time was quite the challenge! When one was happy and smiling, the other was looking away...when the oth...

Indulge me...

It's Sunday... It's cold...no... no , scratch that...its frigid ... And, it should be Day 168 of the TreeHouse Chronicles. *Sigh*...*sniffle*...*sob*. Our world currently consists of ice (you can't call it snow anymore...you can walk atop it...) on the ground (similar to "Pants on the Ground"...only ice), on the road, on everyone's driveways. And frigid, bitterly cold air. I want sun. And warm air. And green grass. And chirping birds. I want the TreeHouse Chronicles back in full swing. Speaking of swing...I want that too. Swings. Slides. Playing outside. Is it like this where you are? Are we in the same boat? Or, are you lucky? Are you living in warmth and sunshine? If you are...will you please send some my way? Pretty please? ...with a cherry on top?

TreeHouse Chronicles--Day 140

While I stay home with a sick kiddo (poor E.W...went from the stomach flu to an earache and a sore throat!! Not fair...) and the babe, Mr. W onderful took the other three children to church! I'm supposed to work tonight...hoping to be "on-call" (will you cross your fingers for me?) so I can spend time with my fam ...word on the street is that things are slow up in Birthing Land...so, it's possible I might just get my request! In the meantime...I have something fun to share with you! Today, day 140 of Operation TreeHouse (still counting...even tho' no progress has been made in, what...6 weeks?!!), we find ourselves buried in the aftermath of a winter storm! I love it! I have no idea how much we got...doesn't really seem like much, since I was expecting TONS...but I'm pretty sure we're right around 14 or more inches! But, anywho ... I digress...the TreeHouse Chronicles... A couple (three?) months into my chronicling of our treehouse project, I not...

Holding Patterns

So, on this day...what should be Day 126 of the TreeHouse Chronicles, I find our family in a holding pattern! Circling and circling...ugh...makes me nauseous just thinkin ' about it!! Blech ...have you ever been on a plane in a holding pattern? The little ups, the little downs, the round and rounds? Makes me wanna jump right outta that plane. Or use the barf bag...which would probably be the wiser decision... But, anywho ...we sit. The TreeHouse was placed on the back burner ' cuz of the insane amount of leaves in our yard. Those leaves are now in nice little rows... strai ght , perfectly spaced (hello, Mr. Perfection), cute little rows...which are now covered in snow. Ugh...double ugh . And the TreeHouse ? Still sits like this: But, covered in snow. Poor thing. Okay...so, we've covered the TreeHouse , the leaves...know what else is in a holding pattern? This stinkin ' fly: It has been on my window, in that exact spot, for months (and, um... ahem ...now you kno...

The TreeHouse Chronicles--Day 98

Well...just as I suspected, Holmes...no work on the TreeHouse. This is how it still stands: The focus was elsewhere this week. Leaves. Hunting. Work. Leaves. Family stuff. Leaves. Oh, and did I mention, leaves? Sheesh...it's this time of the year that I start to long for a home in the middle of a great, open field...sans trees. *Sigh * So, no work on the TreeHouse...we've made the executive decision that the TreeHouse can be worked on when there is snow on the ground...but, alas...the leaves cannot be worked on when covered in a thick blanket of snow. I'll keep you posted, tho...rest assured! ;) ------------------------------------------ In other news, I've been working the evening shift at work this weekend...which leaves (bah! That word again!) little time for family. And I miss them. I feel like I just want to curl into a ball, with my family around me, snuggle up by the fire and just...just...just be . After my yucky work night, I've been aching for some fami...

The TreeHouse Chronicles--Day 84

Mr. Wonderful's been workin ' hard on the TreeHouse this week...in fact, he even took time off from work for it! This week saw the "shingling" of the TreeHouse ...funny, I always think of chicken pox wh en I hear "shingles"...must be the nurse in me. Anywho , so...the shingles are up (or, almost ...there's still some pounding going on as I type...), and "The Loft" (remember? The Loft in which my hips got stuck? Yeah... that loft.) now has a railing! A railing, yes. An end wall? No. So, while my children are protected from falling off the loft to the TreeHouse floor, they remain at risk from falling "off the deep end"...well, at least they'd land on soft ground. (I feel an irrational fear setting in...) Here's the deep end: That's a big drop. Not only that, but take a look at the gap in the railing on the right...hello?!?!? I spy, with my little eye, a hole large enough for a small child to fall through (irrat...

The TreeHouse Chronicles--Day 77

Mr. Wonderful missed his calling. He shoulda been a carpenter. A TreeHouse carpenter! Please take note of the above picture...no more funky gap ! Mr. Wonderful's un -perfectionism is now concealed...he can breathe a huge sigh of relief, now that no one can really tell, anymore, that there is that odd, slightly larger than the rest gap in the rafters...'course, when you go up into the loft ( yes!! A loft! I think I'll refer to it as a proper noun from here on out...as in, The Loft! )...you'll be able to see that freaky un -properly spaced gap. But we won't remind Mr. Wonderful of that, will we? The view from the bottom, lookin ' up at The Loft ... * Shiver *...just look at this ladder!!?!! Talk about a mother's irrational fears... great. Now, I have another something to worry 'bout (as if I needed more!). E.W. said, "It's a straight up and down ladder, mama!!!" "Um, yes...I see that my dear...now, careful, careful!!! Oh, just l...

The TreeHouse Chronicles--Day 70

Day 70. 70 days. That means that 10 weeks ago, this whole TreeHouse escapade started. Wow...that's like...like...like a maternity leave ! This weekend saw a TON, and I mean loads, gobs, heaps , of progress! Guess the Mister had to make up for the last four weeks of inactivity? Yesterday, work on the rafters...did I tell you they are "homemade"? If I were the Pioneer Woman, I'd have oodles of amazing photos of the hammer hitting the nail, the saw, slicing through the wood...but, alas, I am just, me. Mama M. And that means that you are stuck with these less than sub par photos, straight outta the camera...untouched, unedited. (But check out that butt!! Or not. I mean, don't check out that butt, 'cuz it's all mine. Well, you know, in theory it's mine... literally , I guess it belongs to Mr. Wonderful...) And today? Well, today saw the finishing of the rafters, and the beginnings of the loft!! And? And? A little treat I'll show you in a few seconds. ...
