Ten Things I Learned on Vacation.

Been back to the daily grind now for a week. A WEEK!!  Coming back from vacation is such a rude awakening, isn't it? Days upon days of relaxation, maid service, no responsibility...then WHAM!!! as soon as the plane touches down, it's back to reality! Super glad to be home with my babies...missing the heat, the sound of the crashing waves, the aforementioned maid service...but so thankful to hold my kiddos in my arms and sleep in my own bed! Anyway, I learned a few things on vacation, thought I'd share them with you. Ready? Okay...in no particular order, here's what I learned: 1. SPF 15 is no match for the Mexican sun. (At least for my Scandinavian skin.) 2. A sunburned tummy is so incredibly itchy it just might make you go crazy. 3. Plane delays on both ends of your trip are the pits. 4. Pina Coladas are delicious...but only the first 8 or so. Then? Ugh. The sweet. The coconut. The blech. 5. Spas are amazing. (Especially the Fiesta Americana Gran...

Real Time...Mexican Version!

Ahhhhh...this is the life.  Mid 80's. Sunshine galore. Crashing waves at my back. Still a puddle of relaxation from my trip to the spa this morning. Indulged in a one hour massage followed by a hydrotherapy session. Whoa...have any of y'all ever done a hydrotherapy session? It was awesome! In a weird way. First, a steam room. Like, bordering on uncomfortable "I can't breathe" steam...just when I was about to wave my white towel they came and got me and put me in... A cold shower!!!! Oddly refreshing and invigorating...and the 10 seconds I spent in there was plenty!! It kind of went back and forth like that, hot treatment, cold treatment, and ended with swim in the biggest jacuzzi I'd ever seen. Currently waiting for the Mr. to return from his deep sea fishing adventure. (I was supposed to join him but bailed and did the spa treatment instead...so glad I did now!! Signing off and leaving you with a glimpse of our view...

Mexico Funny

There was a lot of funny in Mexico...particularly with my 1/16 Scottish husband the morning of the whale watch, but y'all know about that one already. I was browsing through photos, when I ran across these beauts. My baby bro was playing "Photographer" because T. and I had asked him to take a photo of us. My baby bro being the baby bro that he is, started saying things like, "Do Mr. W when he was drunk!" "Do Mama when she was sad!" "What's Mr. gonna be like later?!" And, apparently, these were our interpretations: What I love, though, is my mom's reaction in the background in the following! What a hoot! And, saddness...my tan lines are all but gone. As they were fading, I couldn't help but think they were just a cruel reminder about how horribly, awfully, painfully pale I am in the winter. Sigh. Such is the life of a Scandinavian girl, I guess.

My Big, Fat, Mexican Meltdown

Y'all know I've mentioned it a few times...the epic meltdown in Mexico at the most inopportune time? Yeah, that one? Let me tell you how it went down. We left our children in the very trustworthy and capable hands of the Mr.'s brother and his wife (J. and K.) on Thursday evening and headed to a hotel nearer the airport for our morning departure. Before we left, we chatted a bit with J and K, got the kids settled, laughed about how their youngest had thrown up at daycare that day and joked that they were going to have the stomach flu run through ALL TEN kids that were there, and WON'T THAT BE FUN?! We had no sooner left, than I started regretting our decision to leave the night before. While we were planning, it sounded like a fabulous idea, when we actually left our "needing one more hug and kiss" kids and a very quiet and stoic Baby, our plan sounded selfish and unnecessary and "maybe we just should've gotten up in the middle of the night and made t...

Mexican Randomness...

Sometimes, I look at these photos and just laugh. It's crazy that it's only been two weeks since the wedding...I feel like it's forever ago! Our vacation...in random photos: Somewhere over Mexico... My "row-mate"...my mom wisely placed me between the Mr. and T...knowing that if anyone can talk me down from "OHMYGOSH THE PLANE IS GOING TO CRASH AND WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE!!", it is those two... After every "show" the employees would get up on stage and dance to this "si, si, si/no, no, no/oo oo" dance. The guy in the front on the left? That's Diego...I'm still not sure if he's Dora's cousin or not, but anyway, my mom loved him. That girl in the middle with the turquoise show dress on? That's me. Okay, it's not, I was just her body double. ;) Seriously, those girls were IN SHAPE! Made me want to eat a burger and fries for them... And then, my brother became a picture crasher! What I want to know is, why does h...

Whale Watching in Bahia de Banderas

Warning...this post is long. BUT WAIT!! It is FUN and FULL of photos! So, read it, will you? I think you'll enjoy it...especially the part about my "Scottish" husband... "Bahia de Banderas " or " Banderas Bay"...a "shark-free", mountain-lined, dolphin-filled winter home to humpback whales. I put "shark-free" in quotes because you know what they say in Mexican markets, "for you senorita, almost free today". Their "free" seems to be just a bit different than our "free". But, that's what they claim. Shark-free waters because of the (5? maybe more?) different species of dolphins that inhabit this bay...they supposedly keep the sharks away (word on the pier is that there has never been a shark spotted in the bay...) which in turn makes for fabulous breeding grounds for humpback whales. No sharks to eat the baby whales. Gory, I know. And now, aren't you so glad you know that little tidbit of inform...
