Life: An Update

First things first...no jokes here! Just a plain old life update!

Howdy, y'all! I was just thinking tonight, "You know what sound I love? The clickity clack of a keyboard when I'm on a roll and the words are flowing out of my fingers almost faster than my brain can handle." I love that. And it's been too long...too far in between.

I know I still have to do our remodel "after" pictures...I'm still DEEPLY in love with it, but I think my hang up is the two doors we have yet to, well, hang up. ;) Still a decent amount to do before we can wipe our hands of the dust, but we'll get there...and soon! In the meantime, feast your eyes on my barndoor. I closed it for you. ;)

I thought maybe it was time for an update on life. It's good. I'm nearing the end of my first FULL year of being a school nurse and WHOA NELLY has it a been a doozy. Between routine fall busyness, we had a pertussis outbreak, followed closely by an influenza outbreak, which was interrupted by Christmas break, and now, another spurt of influenza...and stomach flu...and cruddy viruses that leave a person feeling like crap and run down. Ugh.

In other news, today is supposed to be a sunny 70 degrees!!! SEVENTY DEGREES PEOPLE!!! That's, like, beach weather for us hearty Minnesotans!

I am so ready for spring. Once I get that first taste of warm air (we had 70's a couple of weeks ago...followed by 30's-40's, gross), my mind and body are all, "Oh, HELLO, summah-time!!!!" and now that I have a teacher schedule, summertime has become just that much sweeter to me.

My biggest boy is finishing up his first year of college...talking about studying abroad and plans for his future. His school is close and I absolutely LOVE that he can come home for supper on a whim...or he can stay at college and live college life as much as he wants! It's like the best of both worlds.

My little boys (can I still call them that?) are both gearing up for baseball season...both are on "travel" teams, which I have vastly conflicting feelings about. My big girl finished up swimming and is onto softball and just had a giant project at school wrap up: Festival of Nations. Fun stuff! And my sweet babe is LOVING ballet. We did "Just for Kix" last year (is that nationwide or statewide?) and this is a night and day difference. I love watching my little ballerina.

The hubs and I started a watered down version of Dave Ramsey's debt free program at the end of January...I'll have to tell you about the benefits we've seen in our budget. Still not perfect, by any means, but much better that it had been!

And, with that said, I'll sign off and see you soon with: 1. After photos of our remodel (the changes are crazy!!) 2. My thoughts on being a full time working mom, and 3. Our Dave Ramsey changes.

Have a great week!

Come here looking for the tutorial? It can be found here:  Halo Braid Tutorial!  Let me know how it goes! I had something in mind to try on Baby Girl's hair the other day...my best bud, Dr. J, did something similar to it on Belle once, and I was trying to replicate it. Instead, I got this: Isn't it pretty?! It didn't take nearly as long as it looks and isn't nearly as intricate as it looks! Vlog tutorial coming soon...(for those of you waiting, I'm sorry it's taking me so long!)

Halo Braid Tutorial!

How appropriate, "halo braid", no?! ;) Finally, I have this ready for you...I apologize for the delay! This braid looks intricate, but is really quite easy and quick to pull off...the original video (prior to the warp speed braiding...watch the video to see what I mean) was just a bit over 8 minutes long...not too shabby! So, here you go...right in time for you to try it out on your little girl for Easter!

Crock-Pot Fajitas

You! Yes, YOU!! You must stop whatevertheheck it is that you are doing, and make this recipe. Right now. Tonight. Well...wait. You should probably finish reading this post first...you know...so you know how to make it... But then...STOP! STOP everything, make this, and thank me later! Oh, hold it...wait just a sec (again)...actually, I got this recipe from Melissa...yes, the Melissa of this story ! And this story ...which, well...is the same story, just told two different ways! ;) So, you can thank her...I guess. Well, in any event...prepare your tastebuds to be tantalized! You'll need this: And, this: You'll also need chicken breasts or steak, but since photographing your "main ingredient" is, like, soooo passe, I've left it out. ( Ahem... ) Just keepin ' up with the times, friend. So...slice up those peppers and onions into cute little strips... And...try your best to not slice up the little fingers that are sneaking away pepper strips... (Lemme just inte
