Judgemental, Much?

The other day, I was deep in a FaceBook creep...you know, a friend that commented on another "friend's" photo that tagged someone (who's that?) and that someone else's someone who OHMIGOSH we have a mutual friend LET ME LOOK AT ALLLLLLL THE PHOTOS? Yeah, that. Anyway, the "someone else's someone" that was tagged in the photo was about 8...and I was all, "FaceBook...at 8?". So, OF COURSE I had to look at that person's page and I went as far as the cover photo, shook my head in disgust that some good-for-nothing parents let their 8 year old have a FaceBook page and promptly left, because "Hi! I'm Mother-of-the-Year. I never make bad decisions. Never fail at parenting. And OH MY WORD. I would never and I mean NEVER let my 8 year old have a FaceBook page."

And then it dawned on me. What if...I mean, bear with me here, people...WHAT IF that "someone else's someone" was so proud and in love with her 8 year old daughter THAT SHE USED HER AS HER COVER PHOTO. Shocking, right? I mean, that is inconceivable.

Suddenly, I was all kinds of disgusted with myself. HOW DARE I judge so quickly? I didn't even bother to look further than that cover photo. I didn't even take the time justify my disapproval, I was THAT QUICK to just decide that,  "Wow. There sure are some interesting people in this world that would let their 8 year old have a FaceBook page." I just decided, in that nanosecond that the woman's whose page I was on was a terrible mother...just for allowing her daughter to have a FaceBook page.

And you know what? There probably are PLENTY of 8 year olds that have FaceBook pages and still, WHO AM I TO JUDGE?! While I won't agree that Facebook (or any social media) is the place for an 8 year old, it certainly isn't my job to be the parent police and shame the virtual bejeezus out of parent for it.

Last I checked, I had my own children to raise and guide to good decision making and protect from harm and feed and clothe and love and nurture and dote and smoosh; I can promptly take my nose out of other people's business...and immediately cease passing judgement on complete stranger's BECAUSE OF THEIR FACEBOOK COVER PHOTO.

How ridiculous can I be? In my defense, I'm happy to say that I remedied my judgement quickly and it was a welcomed slap in the face for me. A wake up call of sorts, to keep my attitude in check.

For the record, unless aforementioned 8 year old is in Human Resources, it is, indeed, her loving mother's page.

Excuse me now, while I walk away with my tail between my knees...

Hashtag lesson learned. ;)

Real Time...Late April Edition

Remember that one time at band camp a couple of months ago when I said I was (mostly) ready to do after photos of our remodel? Um. Yeah. Seems like I can't get myself to take the dang pictures!!!

Ugh. Anyway...I promise. Soon. I still love our kitchen...even while I sit here tappity tapping away on my computer and it remains a mess from supper. *Yawn* Ain't nobody got time for that!!

Listening to my hubby and my biggest girl chat...I love that I'm married to a guy who's an amazing father. It warms my heart to hear them having heart-to-hearts. I can also hear the little three (how long will I be able to call them "the little three"?) outside, playing on the swing set, enjoying the *barely* warm weather.

Heard on the forecast today that there is supposed to be snow tonight. Or tomorrow. WHATEV mother nature! I mean, c'mon! We get teased with these brief stretches of beautiful weather and then 40's and snow?! Fer dumb.

I'm craving something sweet. Like, Sour Patch Kids sweet...and I've got nothin' to satisfy that craving.

Also, is it bedtime yet? I'm pooped. In other news, my big girl has moved on to clipping her nails and my hubby? Fast asleep. "Resting his stomach" he says. Psh. I think I need to rest my eyes. You know, for, like, 12 hours.

OHHHHHH, random though forthcoming: have you ever heard of M. Rena? For Christmas I received one of their long tank tops and LET ME TELL YOU!! It is the most glorious invention EVER. For this ridiculously long torso'ed girl, these things are a dream! Every tunic length top on me is just a smidge too short, but these long tank top thingamajigs? They give as little or as much length as a girl needs! Seriously. Get one. A bit on the spendy side, but hot dang. Worth every penny. (So worth every penny, that I've gotten two more since Christmas!)

Okay...I can hear my hubby snoring and I wanna join in...time to get things tidied up and everyone ready for bed!

Hope you've all had a fantabulous week!

Good gracious, you guys. WHEN DID LIFE GET SO BUSY???????

Holy moly. Last time I looked it was April 1st and then I turned around and it's April 15th and we're thick in the craziness of spring sports and talking about summer activities and OH MY GOSH there's like 20-something days of school left!!!

One of the things I noticed when I took my school job was how SUDDENLY we were crazy busy and I came to the conclusion that either: 1. I had no idea how much work my husband did in the evenings when I worked at the hospital or 2. Now that I was available as a "mom" and "wife" and "parent" in the evenings, we just GOT busier because, well: I wasn't working evenings anymore, so why not fill them up with something else?!

Regardless, it was great timing because it HAS allowed me to get more involved and to have what I like to call a "normal" life with my family. One thing I've taken on, of late, is to chair a big event at my kiddos' school. Anyone have any advice on running a big dinner/auction event?

'Cuz I'll take all the advice I can get at this point.

Obligatory blog post photo that is unrelated to anything but Sweet Baby Jesus, isn't this girl adorable????? THAT THUMB SUCKING!! My niece:

And, ohmigosh. Guys? My biggest boy is TWO WEEKS AWAY from finishing his first year of college. He's, like, practically a bonafide adult now! Make it stop. I truly (not lying here) miss the days of temper tantrums, sleepless nights, blowouts, and meltdowns...the "big stuff" now is just SO. MUCH. BIGGER. Decisions carry more weight. The worries are deeper. Mamas, hug those babes and embrace that meltdown with the knowledge that soon, and very soon, that melting toddler will soon be a growing man telling you about "Case Day" at college.

Gah. When did this happen?!

And our summer is filling up with weddings. 2014 must've been a love filled year because ALL THE PEOPLE are getting married. All of them. Every last one of them. It's insane. And fun. And crazy.

The weather 'round these parts has been GLORIOUS and makes a person want to be outside all dang day and just soak it in. Have I mentioned how excited I am for summer to come?

In the meantime, I'll just sit back (oh...wait...no sitting, too busy) and enjoy the sunshine and gale force winds!

One last obligatory blog post photo...I want THIS hair. Now. Like, yesterday...

(Photocred...somewhere on the internets. Was Pinteresting and screenshotted it. Hey, can you past tense "screenshot"?)
Hope life is well with you!

Life: An Update

First things first...no jokes here! Just a plain old life update!

Howdy, y'all! I was just thinking tonight, "You know what sound I love? The clickity clack of a keyboard when I'm on a roll and the words are flowing out of my fingers almost faster than my brain can handle." I love that. And it's been too long...too far in between.

I know I still have to do our remodel "after" pictures...I'm still DEEPLY in love with it, but I think my hang up is the two doors we have yet to, well, hang up. ;) Still a decent amount to do before we can wipe our hands of the dust, but we'll get there...and soon! In the meantime, feast your eyes on my barndoor. I closed it for you. ;)

I thought maybe it was time for an update on life. It's good. I'm nearing the end of my first FULL year of being a school nurse and WHOA NELLY has it a been a doozy. Between routine fall busyness, we had a pertussis outbreak, followed closely by an influenza outbreak, which was interrupted by Christmas break, and now, another spurt of influenza...and stomach flu...and cruddy viruses that leave a person feeling like crap and run down. Ugh.

In other news, today is supposed to be a sunny 70 degrees!!! SEVENTY DEGREES PEOPLE!!! That's, like, beach weather for us hearty Minnesotans!

I am so ready for spring. Once I get that first taste of warm air (we had 70's a couple of weeks ago...followed by 30's-40's, gross), my mind and body are all, "Oh, HELLO, summah-time!!!!" and now that I have a teacher schedule, summertime has become just that much sweeter to me.

My biggest boy is finishing up his first year of college...talking about studying abroad and plans for his future. His school is close and I absolutely LOVE that he can come home for supper on a whim...or he can stay at college and live college life as much as he wants! It's like the best of both worlds.

My little boys (can I still call them that?) are both gearing up for baseball season...both are on "travel" teams, which I have vastly conflicting feelings about. My big girl finished up swimming and is onto softball and just had a giant project at school wrap up: Festival of Nations. Fun stuff! And my sweet babe is LOVING ballet. We did "Just for Kix" last year (is that nationwide or statewide?) and this is a night and day difference. I love watching my little ballerina.

The hubs and I started a watered down version of Dave Ramsey's debt free program at the end of January...I'll have to tell you about the benefits we've seen in our budget. Still not perfect, by any means, but much better that it had been!

And, with that said, I'll sign off and see you soon with: 1. After photos of our remodel (the changes are crazy!!) 2. My thoughts on being a full time working mom, and 3. Our Dave Ramsey changes.

Have a great week!
