The Best Party Ever.

So this happened... (And yes, that's my dad giving some sort of wackadoo peace sign that appears as though he's not really spreading peace but some other sign you use your fingers for...) My cousin (who snapped these with my camera) said it looks like the best (worst?) party you'd never want your kids at. Dear Lord let this not be a foreshadowing of our future!!

In the Kitchen with Gram...Microwave Peanut Brittle!

Friends, what I'm about to share with you is something so revolutionary it takes the "scary" out of peanut brittle. Know what I mean? What with crack stage vs. hard crack stage and the whole rigamarole with candy thermometers? Toss it all out the window. I mean, I'm sure it plays a part in here somewhere, but who has time for that kind of stuff? Behold, my dear friends, "Microwave Peanut Brittle". I know, I know. Please hold your applause until the end. (Pay no attention to the times at the left, the correct times are in the recipe.) Begin by prepping your surface (i.e. cookie sheet...they work well)...butter and kosher salt. Wait, is it Kosher salt? Is "Kosher" a proper noun? Teach me, please. When your surface is prepped, prep your utensils (Gram likes to use the end of a wooden spoon for stirring)...plenty of butter will make your life a lot happier whilst making peanut butter. Trust me on that one. Whe...

Because this makes me smile...

And smiling makes my heart feel lighter! I love this man. That cake, however? Not so much.

Nightmare.

My friend Meridith's worst nightmare has come true. A helicopter spotted evidence of a wreckage today on mountain top near Fillmore, UT, where the plane was last known to be. There was no evidence of survivors. The bodies of Trista, Shyann, and Matt and one of the dogs have been recovered. Please keep their families' in your prayers as they struggle through the fog and darkness that comes after losing someone you love so much.

Five Question Friday! 11/30/12

So, since it's 12:34 am and I am just now getting to the 5QF sneak peek, I'm gonna lump the sneak peek and 5QF all into one! I'll post this as soon as I'm done, with the linky...I'll get to my questions tomorrow morning, since I should prolly try to get some  sleep, no? Thursday Baby Girl and I woke up, got dressed, ate breakfast, and even made supper and were out the door in 30 minutes from wake up to driving out the garage...Mama had shoppin' to do! I am happy to report that I have now made a good start on my Christmas shopping. Hallelujah, I can stop losing sleep about it now! And shop 'til we drop, we did. My mama went with, we sent Baby back with my dad after work and my mama and I shop, shop, shopped! My feet? They hurt. My check book might be crying a little bit, too, since, you know, I didn't win that Powerball jackpot. Stoopid lottery. Anyway, let's get this show on the road! Welcome to Five Question Friday!! You've come to...

Prayers?

Friends, could I ask you to take a moment and say a prayer? A friend from high school has been fervently praying for her sister, her niece and her sister's boyfriend...they were flying a private plane home to Wyoming from California last Sunday. Radar lost signal from the plane around noon and search and rescue teams have been searching rugged Utah terrain (they had stopped to refuel in the Fillmore/Mt. Pleasant, UT area). I can not imagine the horror of not knowing if your loved ones are safe and my heart breaks for her and her family. Please pray for guidance and wisdom for the search and rescue teams to find her loved ones safe and bring them home. Here is a recent news story .
