Drama in the ER

Tonight I had my very first experience with a bomb threat. And if it never happens again, it will be too soon. I grew up in a time when bomb threats were non-exisitent...where we didn't practice lock-downs and prepare for terror. So, when I heard tonight, that the hospital that I work at was surrounded by cops and that they weren't letting anyone in OR out, my heart started to race just a bit. I just wanted out. Call me a bad nurse...but I didn't want to be anywhere near that hospital. I wanted to be home. With my family. Not concerned about the possibility of someone wanting to either strike fear in the hearts of many people or, worse, someone wanting to injure a large amount of people. We headed to some windows that over looked the street and sure enough...lot's of cops, no cars were being let near the road in front of the hospital, and we happened to see a cop in a big truck, get out and look under a bunch of cars. Yikes. I'd by lying if I said I wasn't scare...

Dearest Mama:

Janae ...creator of my awesome Native Honey bag (and the author of "Pink Moss", the fabulous blog that I won it from!) came up with an amazing idea for her daughters...I loved it from the moment I heard about it. Her idea? To get words of wisdom from people who have already lived and survived the tough teen years. She asked us to write a letter to our 12 year old selves and, knowing what we know now, give advice to that 12 year old. So...here goes nuthin': Dearest M: In this, your twelfth year of life, you will focus on things that are not worth focusing on. Popularity is not something that is worth ditching a friend for...nor is it something that will ever really matter when you find yourself in, "real life". Trust me on this..."popularity" means squat. Nothin', nada, zip...when it comes right down to it. What matters is loyalty, honesty, and truthfulness. Friends who judge you based upon what clothes you wear or how you do your hair are not wort...

The Evolution of a Blogger.

I've been thinking a lot, lately. Scary, I know...just ask those around me. Anyway, I've been thinking about blogging and how it seems that most bloggers follow a typical "pattern" of bloggy evolution. You know...going from knuckle dragging stone tablet carving: To high fashion, globe trotting, book deal snagging hot shots. Or not. I mean, for most of us. Some of us, yes...have become high fashion, globe trotting, book deal snagging, movie procuring booger heads. Kidding. About the booger heads. I spent a lot of time with my kids this weekend and every mean name I can think up ends with "head"...movie head, wii head, booger head, etc. It's a horrible affliction. Anyway...sorry 'bout the digression... Tell me if you disagree with my theory. (I know I've mentioned it before...but oh, Lordy! does this wee lil brain of mine have a whole buncha theories in it! Scary...really.) Here's my theory...one day, little Cindy Lou-Blogger-Who wakes up and ...

Oh What a Weekend!

You know, it's weird...but I'm kind of glad it's Monday!! (Slap me now, I know...) After whirlwind weekends like we had, it's kind of nice to get back to real life. (Remind me I said that when I'm up to my pupils in laundry.) Our weekend started off with the potential to get ugly (it didn't..and, I'll stop using parenthesis now), when I sent us on a wild goose chase through Minneapolis. There is a big ol ' Interstate that we always hop on to drive into the city...but, one can also take the big state highway down too, depending on where in the big city you are headed to. I directed us to the Interstate, and only checked the directions at a crucial "fork" in the road...where we not only chose the wrong "tine", but also discovered we should've taken the state highway. So, my hubby decided to "cut through" the city to catch the right highway on the other side...only to discover that we once again missed an exit somewhere al...

I'm Tired...

...but I've gotta get this week's Date up!! We had a fabulous weekend! We're sunburned and dirty and tired and oh, so very, grateful to be sleeping in separate rooms and in our VERY own beds. Ahhhhh...life's little luxuries! I'm re-engergizing myself to get back on the exercise bandwagon...I've fallen off, and I desperately need to get back on! So...starting tomorrow, it's back to KettleWorx 3 times a week for me! Hopefully, I'll add in a few walks in the gorgeous weather that MinneSOOOta is supposed to be sportin' this week! Okay...back to the Date of the Week! If you're new to my blog, I have a blog listing that I call my " Personals ", where people submit a little blurb about their blog, I list it, and every week I highlight a "Date of the Week" in a post and in my sidebar! Check it out...you just might like it! Soooooooo...this week's Date is: Katie's Dailies : I'm a 44 Domestic Engineer living in northwest Ark...
