Showing posts with the label first day of school

It's Friday!!

Whoa nelly. Week one of school down and OH. EM. GEE. The children. They are at each other's throats!! For kids that usually  get along pretty well, we have had way more than our normal amount of tears, raised voices, disagreements, hurt feelings...the list goes on and on! This first week of school business is tough stuff.  Speaking of first week (day) of school...I'm a terrible mother. How could I NOT post the obligatory first day of school photos??? Let me remedy that quick: Cracks me up that it looks like she's wearing shoulder pads!! Please forgive Belle's "one of these things is not like the other" photo...she started the day after the other kiddos and I was already out of practice by then and forgot to have her pose inside. Oh well, at least I got a photo, right?! Anyway, I'm super thankful for the reprieve of the weekend. A chance to regroup. To sleep in. To have mornings that are not ruled by pressure of the clock.  ...

We Survived The First Day of School!!!

Maybe I should change that to..."I Survived"!! :) Dropped my baby(ies) off at school with only a few tears...my own tears, that is. Baby Girl did great. Gave me a hug and kiss and, a little shyly, said good-bye. I'm friends with the other K teacher and she sent me a text saying, "Just wanted to let you know that Baby Girl is happy and smiling!"...and it made me cry all over! Sounds like they all had a wonderful first day...Dubya's homework being "to play baseball for 30 minutes"...can't complain about that! And now my heart is a bit lighter, having survived this "first day" and seeing my kids' happy faces after school! Without further ado...the obligatory "First Day of School" photos!

'Twas the Night Before School

Twas the night before school, when all through the house Many creatures were stirring, but none were the mouse. The backpacks were crammed with all their supplies In hopes that this school year sure would fly by. The kids were tucked in, but still were awake While whispers and giggles they often did make. And mama in her jammies and dad in his chair Would take turns yelling, "Don't make me come in there!". When out of the girls' room there arose such a shout "But I don't know what to wear!" she proclaimed with a pout. Away to the bedroom mama flew like bird, "Now, Belle, it's late, stop being a turd.". The full summer moon, reflected bright in her eyes, Made mama sad that summer must fly. She sat on that bed, smoothed back Belle's hair And said, "Girl, I think you have plenty to wear.". Then two little boys showed up by her side and said, "But Mama, it's too light to...

First Day of Kindergarten...4th Time Around!

Boy, lemme tell you how different it is to send your 4 th baby off to kindergarten compared to your first. Examples: 1. A.) With my first baby, I tearily said good-bye to him as he got on the bus...then I ran down the street, with my arms outstretched crying and wailing, chasing after the vehicle that was taking my firstborn away. When I realized the bus wasn't going to stop, I walked back home, ate 47 donuts and cried myself back to sleep. B.) With my fourth baby, HE excitedly said "ADIOS, MAMACITA !!!", could barely contain his excitement for one photo, much less 47, hardly had time for a kiss good-bye, and was off like a bolt with the big kids. Me? I happily waved, sad to see yet another of my babies off to school, but content that he was so excited. Then, I went back to bed to snuggle with my sole kiddo left at home. 2. A.) With my first baby, I worried all dang day whether or not he had made his bus switch and gotten to school. Well, except for when I was sleeping....
