Five Question Friday! 4/29/11

Looking forward to having coffee and catching up with a good friend later this morning! It's been too long, and the 12 children between us keep us much too busy!

Hoping for a relaxing weekend...with some housekeeping thrown in! Today it's supposed to be in the mid 60's, which is gonna feel heavenly to us! Then, within a few days, there is snow in the forecast again. :(

It's weird, too...when I wake up, sweet little Prince William will be a married man. Craziness.

Okay, onto 5QF!!

If you are new to Five Question Friday, WELCOME!! I hope you enjoy yourself!

Rules for 5QF: Copy and paste the following questions to your blog post, answer them, then watch for the linky post to appear Friday morning! And (and this is the most important one) it is imperative that you HAVE FUN!! ;)

Questions for Friday, April 29th: (Special thanks to @gasfamily, Rachel, Lorilynne, Pam, and Sandy for their question suggestions! If YOU would like to be linked in a future 5QF, leave me a question suggestion over at my community, or shout it out to me on Twitter [@5crookedhalos]!)

1. If you could buy any car, money not an option, what would it be?

2. What was your worst first date ever?

3. How old were you when you fell in love for the first time?

4. When was the last time you reconciled your checkbook?

5. If you were going to fashion a "Wanted" Ad for a best friend, how would you word it?

---------------------------------------

1. If you could buy any car, money not an option, what would it be?

Your gonna think I'm the world's biggest lame-o.

I, me, the epitome of "cool" *giggle*, would buy a Toyota Sienna. Or, a Honda Odyssey.

Totally decked out with all the bells and whistles, of course.

Yes, I am a minivan mom.

I scoff in the face of the sorry suckers who stuff their families into too small vehicles while scoffing at me and my minivan.

Sorry suckas, minivans are hot.

And, totally practical whether you have one child or 5.

I *heart* minivans.

2. What was your worst first date ever?

Well...once upon a time, a darling young man asked me out on a date. I didn't really want to go.

In fact, I'm not really sure why I even said yes...it's the "people pleaser" in me, I suppose.

Anyway, while the date itself wasn't so horribly awful...all I could think of on the way home was how I avoid what I was sure was going to be a "good night" kiss. I tucked my hands tight into my lap, avoiding holding his...and devised ways in which I could nonchalantly bow out of a kiss I did not want.

Well...suffice it to say, that the car had barely slowed to, oh, I dunno, 30 mph, when I said, "Seeyoulater, thanksfordinner!" and tucked and rolled right out of the car.

Okay...so, it probably wasn't that dramatic...but man did I bolt out of that car quickly!

Turns out...that this young man went on to have some small success with a professional baseball team's farm team. When the Pal got wind that I dated this guy, he said, "Whoa. You shoulda stuck with him."

I think he thought it would be cool to have connections or something...what I didn't tell him was it was "pre-him". There would be no Pal if I had "stuck with him"!

And Praise the Lord I didn't!!

3. How old were you when you fell in love for the first time?

Well, once, when I was in 6th grade, I was "in love" with Michael. I had been "in love" with Michael for, like, ever.

He was adorable...I think he peaked in 6th grade tho.

Anyway, after years of me chasing him (literally...'cuz that's what you do in elementary school), I think he finally said he'd "go with" me just to get me off my back.

A few days later one of his friends told me Michael wanted to break up with me. I was sad.

So sad I went home and watched Sesame Street and declared it the best remedy to a broken heart.

Elmo...he makes a heart happy!

4. When was the last time you reconciled your checkbook?

Ahem.

Um...never?

Yeah. For real. Well...maybe I did back when I first got it. But, not since.

The Mr. was pretty good about reconciling our checkbook after we first got married. Then he got behind.

And that was, oh, probably about 96 months ago.

And I'm not even joking.

5. If you were going to fashion a "Wanted" Ad for a best friend, how would you word it?

It would say something like this:

Wanted: Best Friend.

:p

Okay, okay...how's this: Totally cool, hip, mother of five (who really doesn't have much time for friends) is looking for a kind soul, who is entirely understanding of her lack of time, forgetfulness, and chaotic life, to be her best friend. Understanding, loyalty, and a good sense of humor are a must. Please contact me at 867-5309 and don't be surprised if I forget to call you back the first 87 times you leave a message.

-----------------------------------------

Enjoy your weekend, my friends! Thanks for joining in!

  1. Jenny, Jenny, who can I turn to? 867-5309.

I'm a minivan mom too, but I opted for the "weekend car" for my dream car. :) Call me selfish. :)

  2. I'm with you on the minivan, there are just no other options that are ideal for kiddos. Alas, at least we can call it a swagger wagon.

  3. So, I'm a little disappointed to see my question about co-signing a loan isn't on here. Lol, just kidding. I got the truck btw. Have a great weekend!

  4. Ha! Mom of 4 here, love your ad! And the hop.

  5. LOVE the Honda Odyssey. It is AWESOME! I don't have one and don't want to be a mini van mom, but I would totally pick that one if I were. I'm more of a honda pilot gal myself!

Thanks for hosting 5QF every Friday!

  6. Originally, I wanted to put a bag over my head when driving around in my Honda Odyessy. It represented the final farewell, since the arrival of children...and subsequent departure of "coolness".

Now I can't imagine surviving without it! Although one with all the "bells and whistles" would be greatly appreciated, in comparison to the cracked windshield, sticky sliding doors, goldfish cracker crumb coated one I drive. LOL

  7. I love your ad for a Best Friend! Mind if I steal it? I'm a mom of 2 but other than that you've totally captured me in a wanted ad. Or maybe we could be best friends...except I live in the Northwest. That could be a bonus if we'll be too busy to get together or return phone calls :)

  8. Your lack of checkbook reconciling has sent me in to a minor stressed out tail spin lol. I balance my check book daily. It kills me not knowing the exact dollar amount, probably bc if there's any extra that means I can shop LOL.

  9. I'm so glad I'm not the only one who can't seem to keep a reconciled checkbook! Thanks for this great link-up every week. I always look forward to it!

  10. Mama M...I loved your answers. Once again you made me laugh. Were you the class clown when you were in school?

Come here looking for the tutorial? It can be found here:  Halo Braid Tutorial!  Let me know how it goes! I had something in mind to try on Baby Girl's hair the other day...my best bud, Dr. J, did something similar to it on Belle once, and I was trying to replicate it. Instead, I got this: Isn't it pretty?! It didn't take nearly as long as it looks and isn't nearly as intricate as it looks! Vlog tutorial coming soon...(for those of you waiting, I'm sorry it's taking me so long!)

Halo Braid Tutorial!

This braid looks intricate, but is really quite easy and quick to pull off...the original video (prior to the warp speed braiding...watch the video to see what I mean) was just a bit over 8 minutes long...not too shabby! So, here you go...right in time for you to try it out on your little girl for Easter!

You'll need this: And, this: You'll also need chicken breasts or steak, but since photographing your "main ingredient" is, like, soooo passe, I've left it out. ( Ahem... ) Just keepin ' up with the times, friend. So...slice up those peppers and onions into cute little strips... And...try your best to not slice up the little fingers that are sneaking away pepper strips... (Lemme just inte
